What ever happened to the "good old days"? |
AN OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS 'Twas the month before Christmas And the stores were all packed With good folks trying to Get just what they lacked - It seems that every year Shopping starts earlier and so By the time it is Christmas You really don't care or know What's in that wrapped package You bought in November - Surely it's a bargain You saved for December. No matter how much it costs Or if the going is rough Somehow you'll find a way To make sure there's enough. Then I pause to remember A time of so long ago, When an old fashioned Christmas Made every heart glow. We didn't have much money So we did what we could; Making our gifts of love And today we still would If an old fashioned Christmas Didn't seem out of place - If we just cared for each other And not make it a race For things that soon lose The charm and the meaning; Could be that our hearts Need a little "Spring-cleaning". An old fashioned Christmas Where love is given and meant To bring families together And does not cost a cent. It isn't the gifts that Are under the tree - It's the love in the hearts That's Christmas, to me. Countrymom 11/29/02 |
