TO SEE THE OCEAN

To see the ocean once again,
To feel at peace with the day -
Just watching the tides roll in
And then drifting back away.

There is a sense of timelessness
As the water shifts and turns;
There is a sense of wonder
As the wave about me churns.

Bringing gifts of ages past,
Amid the seaweed and the brine
Bits of wood and fond memories
Invade this lonely soul of mine.

The tide rushes in to greet me,
Then tries hard to pull me in;
I stand firm and let the water
Swirl around me, satisfied again.

There is something about the ocean
That makes me feel God is there;
To once more see the ocean
Is the answer to my prayer.
