Rolly Pollie is on his way! |
Rolly Pollie is my name I am of Gift Point fame; People write and then they wait To see if I will take the bait! Well, I'm in need of a vacation Going to travel around the nation! Packed my little traveling bag Heads may shake and tounges may wag! But I deserve a trip, you see, I'm a gift point retiree! So I board a plane to carry me Off to the beach in Hawaii! As I alight and watch the hula (Souveniers cost lots of moola!) A man comes running up to me Said he just wrote a new story; He begged me stay and read it all But surfing waters looked like a ball So surfboard in hand, I ran away I'll do my job again someday.. A week of lying in the sun, Having lots and lots of fun; Another plane trip was due Alaska beckons, so I flew! The mountains there were great to see; Pretty big compared to a gp like me! The skies were dark but - oh, my gosh! Auroras were so worth the cost! I bought an eskimo some lunch Met many people and had a hunch That they were writers, good ones, too; I knew just what I had to do! A train took me across the state Knowing I would not be late To get back to my old career Of making people happy here. One more stop I had to take; This one really took the cake! In a barrel over the Niagra Falls, Lookit me! True Nature calls! Having done that I hurried home, No energy left in me to roam. I've had some laughs, and lots of fun Can't wait till the next time comes! So here I am, back on the job While I've been gone, I didn't rob A single soul of gift point glee I have relatives just like me! They read, rate and give blue stars While I fly off or ride in cars; Look in your e-mails, you will see That we're a gift point family! Some writers give, some writers take - They hardly ever give me a break! I settle down with one for a nap Then they send me on - without my cap! Adventures are much more fun, But writers keep me on the run, If I didn't eat out every day My Rolly Pollie fat would melt away! So from story to poem to prose I hop; I know that this will never stop! If I go to the very, very best I hope they give me a little rest! |
