Bad Habits

If I find a spot
a tiny spot
barely perceptible
to the eye
that no one else
but I can see
I rub it
and see
if I can get it out

         out damn spot!

Maybe just
a dab of water
will help
as my tiny spot
has now grown -
still tiny
barely perceptible
to the eye
but larger
than it was
so I rub it some more
with a dab of water.

         Out damn spot!

Hmmm
that just made it
even bigger
didn't it?
Maybe just
a dash of soap
to go with
the water
as my tiny spot
is now perceptible
to the eye
so I rub it some more
with a dab of water
and a dash of soap.

         OUT DAMN SPOT!

Well shoot,
now look at it
it's the size of
a silver dollar
probably should have
just left it alone
no one would have
noticed it -
too late now though
time to put it
under the tap
and scrub it a bit.

         OUT DAMN SPOT!
