Whimsical ideas on housekeeping and a poem too
Housekeeping tips for marathon Stories.com authors and readers:
(With the exception of fanatics and over zealous people, this could apply to some of us.)

I don’t know about you, but ever since I became a member of this magnificent site, I have noticed that my home had lost its gleam and manicured appearance. I had slacked off in the daily routine of cleaning it. Too much time was spent here in Stories. Oh, I’m not complaining. I love you guys. Still, I have a life outside of Stories, but something had to be left out, and, of course, housework, the most distasteful of chores was selected.

So I started a routine as of late that does seem to work well. I make sure that I keep the kitchen straightened; most of the time anyway, the bathroom presentable and the bed dressed for the day. That’s it! When dirt is obvious in the living room area, I would talk myself out of procrastinating for a few weeks, and then vacuum the rugs and dust the furniture. Forget about the windows and curio cabinets. Whenever it gets done, I’ll be the first to know. Nobody else cares.

In the meantime should company unexpectedly telephone that they are coming to visit, all the accumulated clutter would be thrown into the nearest closet or under the bed. If they arrive unannounced, I would tell them to wait before opening the door; then shed my clothes and put on my robe. It is then I would play on their sympathy and ask them to excuse the mess, because I was ill with the flu or some other lame excuse.

For those of you that can afford to have someone come in and clean your home or apartment, please, by all means, do so. If, however, dirt doesn’t bother you, God Bless you. Just keep on writing dear members and entertain us all.

And here’s a little ditty that can be sung (roughly) to the lyrics of the song, ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’. It’s my way of keeping the house quiet for yet another day.

Hush little house
Now don’t you cry
Momma will soon be bye and bye.

Just dry those tears
And I’ll soon be there
to wash your dulling face.

I’ll put the shine
back into your rooms
with the gentle touch of mops and brooms.

Hush little house
Now don’t you weep
One day soon we’re destined to meet.
