Written from the perspective of my 5yr old sister, to my mom, about adoption
Mommy,
Why did I come on a plane
when Emily came from your tummy?

Mommy,
Are there lots of people here
with black hair too?

Mommy,
Why do your eyes fold on top
and mine are puffy-smooth?

Mommy,
Why do people look at us funny
when we go to the store?
Are they laughing at my squished-flat nose?

Mommy,
Where will all the babies
back in China go?

Mommy,
Did I have other parents
just like Annie did?
Did we do something
to make them say goodbye?

Mommy,
Did you love me right away?

Mommy,
How did God pick me for you?

Mommy,
I love you.
