The hypocracy of some Christians
Three knocks beckoned me to my door.
Cold air burst across the threshold
On the warm summer day.
A man
Reached into his trench coat
And pulled out his goods.
Four words highlighted a petition:
"Keep," "Gay," "Out," and "Schools."
The door neared his face when he cried out
"Have you accepted Jesus Christ
Into your heart?"
A sliver of cold crept back inside.
The man held The Good Book as his shield,
Its pages shivering as they growled
Sinners and wrongdoings!
Flames of hell!
Spread the Good News
By punishing God's children.
Love thy neighbor
Unless you can't accept him.
Sadness filled my heart
Pity weakened my eyes.
Neither podium nor soap box stood before me.
The door latched quietly
And I left the deadbolt
Unlocked.
