They sold themselves out, built a tower beyond the clouds & forgot the meaning of life
Things that are pissing me off!

Now, back to the article I am sharing.

#Microsoft and the PC industry would very much like you to toss old systems in the trash and buy new #computers to take their place (this applies to cell phone manufacturers as well—yeah, haven't forgotten about you ridiculous let's force all people to buy our "life-changing" technology and #AI most of us don't want!).

Anyhow, many #charities, low-income/fixed-income individuals & seniors rely on "outdated" #technology such as soon to be defunct Windows 10, or other refurbished computers to conduct their personal and professional business and stay connected with family & friends. Many people can't afford to buy all this new technology at the rate it is being doled out & force fed to us. Many people don't want to support this wasteful system that strips mass #resources from the planet before it can be replenished and/or that relies on labs to produce components through methods that aren't necessarily any "better", more environmentally-friendly, healthy for humans, or sustainable.

Oh, and most of us do not want to support China's authoritarian Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which is an illegitimate regime that is not fairly and democratically elected, nor does it not represent the will of the Chinese people. The CCP spies on their own citizens and routinely has those who dare to speak out against them mysteriously disappear—yet for some reason they are trusted to manufacture & assemble PCs, cell phones & other technological peripherals (seriously, why the f*ck would any reputable tech company trust the CCP to assemble and manufacture their devices, which contain cameras and microphones? Who decided that getting the oppressive surveillance state to make all these electronic components and assemble all of these tech devices for consumers all around the world would be a good idea?) The CCP exploits their people (and people in countries that it believes they have the right to control and dictate to) and relies on the use of forced labor by Uyghurs, Tibetans, Falun Gong members and other “undesirables” to produce products for worldwide distribution.

#DYK
While many old computers go for ewaste #recycling and most parts can be reclaimed, a good chunk end up in #landfills. According to one estimate, only 14-40% of 🇺🇸 ewaste gets recycled at all.
An estimated 240 million PCs won't meet Microsoft’s stringent Windows 11 hardware requirements. That's a hellavu lotta mined resources, essential minerals and manufactured components going into the friggin' #garbage, eh?
One company refurbishes 140,000 PCs each year—most of which are donated by #corporations; however, the company also sends 7 million pounds of ewaste from outdated or unfixable gear to recyclers.

Let's save the earth, yah? (this line must be "voiced" by Wakka from Final Fantasy X)

Many people don't have the patience or tenacity to work with a different OS that can’t run all the same software they are used to and will change where things are located and how they function, operate and interface with other peripherals and connected devices. School children, employees, business owners and us regular Joes are used to running Windows 10 (or older) to do all our #business, #schoolwork and other tasks.

For those of us who decide to stay with #Windows10 or other "outdated" and "inferior" technology (such as any cell phone that is more than 1 year old) these tech companies are leaving consumers—the ones who keep them in friggn' business—with insecure computers that could put them in some danger when they cease to provide updates for the technological devices we already have.
