A traditional sonnet
The days we had were much too few

The days we had were much too few,
a carousel turning wildly, spinning
a feral ride of love , lust, and sinning
I noticed not, nor had a clue
that your affections would soon decrew
I would lose the love I was pinning
my desire for a passionate beginning
of our love in time to grow strong as two
alas, t'was not to be as you took flight
renounced my love, rejected my devotions
leaving me a ramshackle shanty of emotions
thinking to throw myself from a great height
to end the longing and misery impounding my heart,
then I found the courage to make a new start
