Searching for a soul mate |
In the darkest hour of the night, when light is a forgotten memory, I lie, shrouded in suffocating darkness, My body cries out for the soul that has left it an empty shell. where are you? Who are you? Does your body cry out for a soul that is lost? Are you searching? Are you seeking? Are you hunting for me across the empty coldness of space and time? I know you, I have seen you in dreams, So exquisite they break my heart with their beauty. Your touch, The invisible silk of a spiders web, So familiar and yet so strange. Your scent lingers in the air, a haunting apparition that quickens my breath and makes my pulse rush. You draw me closer, Your face hidden in shadows, Taunting me, So close that I can feel your breath on my neck, So far that galaxies separate us. How can I miss someone I have never met, How can my body tremble for the touch of hands that have never caressed it, I cry out in the agony of loneliness, Calling across the emptiness of infinity, Desperately seeking any sign of life in a lightless vacuum. In the east the darkness pales, The night clutches me in one final choking embrace, Reluctant to release it's hold. From the furthest reaches of the universe, As faint as the birthing light, your cry answers mine. |
