This post is about Famous Last Words
Famous Last Words

This song is a argument between The Patient and The Parader, both of them presenting different points. The Patient finally accepting Death and wanting to move on, while The Parader saying The Patient should hold on and live his life. The opening lyrics go as follows.

"Now I know that I can't make you stay
But where's your heart?
But where's your heart?
But where's your-
And I know there's nothing I can say
To change that part
To change that part
To change..."

The two parts are The Parader saying, he can't make The Patient stay but where is his heart, does he have any remorse about life? He unfortunately knows he can't say anything to change that part about The Patient. In the next few lines, The Patient responds saying his life is incomplete but it's so hard to even try to try and keep up with his demanding life. The chorus doesn't truly change but the meaning changes as the song progresses.

"I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey, if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home."

The Patient says he isn't afraid to continue to live whether in the Afterlife or his true life, but he is also not afraid to walk either world alone. That line pushes more towards the idea, that he is fine walking the Afterlife alone with his decision being his own. The Parader says the next line, the only strange part being him saying Honey, but he says that if The Patient lives, he will be forgiven for everything he has said about The Patient. The final line can be viewed two different ways, but the view I choose is that The Parader can't say anything to stop the Patient choosing where he decides to go, otherwise his "home."

The final post will be about the ending of the album.
