One of the first times I felt lost in the forest of life. Playing with sentence structure.

I felt alone the time I looked in the mirror
and did not
recognize its reflection.
So, I found comfort in the shadows;
There, I waited and prayed.

While there,
I saw trees
admiring themselves in the rippling lake.
Birds mocked each other in shop windows.
A man fixed his mane in a rearview mirror.
A crying baby was calmed by the love reflected
in their mother's eyes.

Returning to my bathroom mirror, I
opened my eyes
so that I could let in some light.
It turns out
I am not alone in my reflection.
