Dance in the Rain

We will let the other poets
conquer the heavens
with their odes of celestial passions
as a testament of their love

And we will let the other artists
paint the great tableaus
with their cherubs of Cupid
as the evidence of their devotion

And we will let the other vocalists
sing the songs
of their forever undying love
as the proof of their affection

We will let them do it all
because we need nothing
so grand or fantastic—-
not when the mere warmth
of our desire
evaporates the raindrops
that touch our skin
when we dance together in the rain
