Diary

Yesterday,
I wrote you
across many lines,
carefully blotting
salt splashes of tears,
caressing your name
with the tips
of my fingers.

My pencil
traced the steady curves
of your face
and dotted your eyes.

Graphite scratches
looped around
intense memories
of touches,
glances,
punctuated kisses,
as eraser dust
faded your “I love you”
to a whisper.

Today,
I turn the page.
