My entry for the Daily Flash using the line "This never happened before" |
Terrence stepped into the lab. The issues with the time machine had plagued his sleep, leaving him groggy and grumpy. “I think we have something!” Eli yelled. Terry jumped at the sound as he tried to drink his coffee, sending hot liquid down his trench coat. “Good Lord, Man!” Terrence responded, attempting to wipe his coat. “I’m telling you, Chap. I’m telling you this is what we have been looking for, our solution.” Terry leaned in to look at the younger man’s notes. By gosh he had something there. He could be correct. If it were true, the duo could have the machine to the former King Chauncey in time for him to go back and thwart of the coup that lead to him losing power. “We’ve worked and toiled in this dungeon for weeks,” Eli was saying as Terry’s attention turned back to the machine. “And if this works, we shan’t toil another day in our lives! Chauncy will owe us a great debt!” “Agreed, good man.” A smile crept over Terrance’s face. He could finally see the end of what amounted to imprisonment. He moved the settings just where he wanted them, grabbed Eli and pulled the younger man into the port of the machine, sliding the door closed. “What are you doing?” There was panic in Eli’s voice. But Terrence had a better plan. They were not sending King Chauncy back. They were going back themselves. “Where are we?” Eil asked. “Not where. When, good man. To the rest, this never happened before. We have the edge.” “For what use?” “Don’t you see? We know the chain of events. Only we can make changes. We can become rulers!” “Indeed we can!” Eli pulled the weapons out from their places in the port. It was time. Word count 298 |
