My life

What did I do to get this life, my hopes and dreams now sacrificed.

I tried to help all that I could, knowing in return they never would.

I love my children though now their grown, but they act like my love was never known.

How is it we only remember the hurt from our past and never the beautiful things.

The mistakes we made when we were young forever pulling at our heart strings.

I want just once to be at peace, to know how happiness feels, instead of the heaviness that weighs me down and always climbing hills
