A poem written to express the enchantment one could find by going off the beaten track
The Little Antique Shop

(A Villanelle dedicated to those who commit themselves to the collection and preservation of forgotten air looms)

There was this simple little shop.
Where there was everything to find.
As along the unbeaten track we decided to stop.

Small and quaint with sink on top.
With hardly seen things to boggle the mind.
There was this simple little shop.

From the throw string of a spinning top.
To things to interest every other kind.
As along the unbeaten track we decided to stop.

So far off near a mountain top.
Even with pictures of bacon and rind.
There was this simple little shop.

A green grasshopper posed, ready to hop.
Perched next to a brown cow's hind.
As along the unbeaten track we decided to stop.

How lucky to discover this amazing crop.
In a place hidden from almost all, seeing and blind.
There was this simple little shop.
As along the unbeaten track we decided to stop.
