The feeling of being swept away. Kind of choppy.
The lacy tendrils shift the sand underneath my feet,
Deeply, gently turning the heels from shore,
Cajoling the ankles to stretch and reach
For the smooth plane before me.

Teasing is the grain, playful is the spray,
In the shallowest façade of that ever changing grey.
Blinding is the light, loud is that insistent rhythm,
An invisible edge of sanity innocently hidden.

I close my eyes to remember the lull and pull,
Of cold hands, clear eyes, never giving anything away.
Then like a kiss, an embrace of terrifying strength so full
Pushes, wraps, and snaps the land's tether in one sway.

I would be lost, confounded and alone in the deep,
Every sound stopped, every light splintered to pieces.
All mysteries above, below and before me
Suddenly real, suddenly frightening before all ceases.

But if I could keep my eyes closed, like I did with you,
Could I at last end my search?
To be swept away, to be overwhelmed, to disappear after
That last feeling on earth.
