Irreparable

Of all the things
that needed to be fixed,
reworked, amended:
         the words we chose
         the choices we made
         the hurt we caused

it was the trust
that singular bond
that kept us tethered
and bound to one another;
the confidence
that was our foundation,
our bedrock

that we cracked, ruptured
and decimated
and is now
so far beyond repair
