Judge Tanya S. Chutkan denied a motion from Donald Trump's legal team to postpone the former president's response due to a protective order request, which may have restricted what information Trump and his legal team can publicly disclose regarding the criminal investigation against him in Washington.

The request for an extension from Monday, August 7 to Thursday, August 10 to file a response to the motion was made by Trump's attorneys on Saturday. They said they needed "adequate time to prepare a fulsome response."

Chutkan, though, denied the request on Saturday night and reiterated that Trump's team had to adhere to the Monday 5 p.m. deadline.
