Secret

“Don’t tell anybody! It’s a secret!” Angie whispered to Jason.

“What kind of a secret?”

“A secret, secret of course!”

“So, it’s a secret and it’s a secret?” Jason asked, confused.

“What?” Angie asked, looking at her little brother as if he’d grown another head.

“Well, a secret is something you don’t tell other people, right?”

“Yes…”

“But you told me. So, is it a secret, or was telling me the secret?”

“It’s called sharing…”

“I thought sharing was what you did with toys and food.”

“And secrets.”

“So now it’s my secret too?”

Angie frowned a bit, “Well, it’s my secret, but now you know it, so you have to keep it secret too.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s a secret!”

“Your secret.”

“You can’t tell anyone else!”

“I couldn’t anyway.”

“Why not?”

“I already forgot what the secret was.”

Angie actually growled at him. Then stomped down to her room slamming the door behind her.

Jason stood looking down the hall for a minute, then burst out giggling, and went to his own room.

Behind the half-closed kitchen door, Mom and Dad had their hands over their mouths to keep from laughing out loud. They turned and snuck out the back door together before they could get caught.

“What do you suppose the secret was?”

Angie snuck apple juice into her water jug last night before bed.

“What!”

“Apple juice is fine, the sneaky is not. I plan on catching her this morning.”

“What if she drank it all?”

“I put enough back in before she woke up to nail her.”

“You always have a plan…”

“Thank you!” they walked away.

Angie heard the whole conversation from her window. Quickly pouring out the juice she put water in. Angie takes after her mother, she always has a plan.
