Wings of an angel

mom, you were my strength
when all I felt was weakness
you believed in me when I couldn't (or didn't) believe in myself
but I see now
this whole time
you were just surrounding me with
the wings of an angel

you stayed loyal to your family
no matter the consequences
you fought for us
because that's what you believed in most,
family
you never turned your back on us
but now I can see
you were just surrounding us
with the wings of an angel

you were the strongest woman I've ever known
you were a wonderful daughter
an amazing sister
a thoughtful grandmother
a loyal wife
an amazing woman
but most of all
you were the best mother anyone could of ever asked for
its just to bad we never saw
we were just surrounded by the
wings of an angel

you were a healer to animals
you respected mother nature
you could grow any plant
or take the sickness from any animal that ever needed you
you had a very kind heart
its just to bad it was never known
that we were being held
by the wings of an angel

whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on
you were always there
no matter what time of the day or night
if I needed my mom
you were always there
to loan me your strength
and to remind me of how loved I really was
you held your head up high
and no matter what
you always handled yourself with pride
and never once gave up your independence
its just to bad we never knew we were being protected
by the wings of an angel

maybe if we knew then we would be able to understand
why god took you so soon
you were my guardian and my protector
and now I understand
I've always been in the presence of an angel

so mom
I say to you now
what you always said to me every night
"have sweet dreams and sleep with angels"

now you are home with your mom and dad
and your son
you will never be forgotten and you will always be loved
