This poem depicts how it feels to be a young person with health issues, in today's world.
They say that I like the pain;
the surgeries;
the hospital stays.

They say that I like to suffer;
that I'm 3-parts self-fulfilling prophecy,
1-part Munchhausens syndrome.

"Anxious."

Studies have found that tumors have to feed on something.

If I were to have a tumor,
I think people would say:

'Hers feeds on

useless research,

a wealth of knowledge in medical terminology,

~'bad feelings,'~

TikToks,

and

the infantile leftovers of a 'rebellious teen's' need for attention.'

Each person's
judgement
of what
must be
happening,
in my body,
is
so
LOUD.

Nobody hears
the broken
whisper,
of both
disbelief,
and
knowing

the weakened
voice,
in
the
corner—

Me.

Whimpering,

"...I have cancer..."
