Ennui

A young woman, sitting alone,
Sips from a coffee cup with a chipped rim.

The coffee tastes acidic,
bitter,
and slightly soapy.

Inside the cup floats a brown film.

Though she takes extra care not to spill,
coffee is already crusting in the saucer.
