On a damp Fall day,
When the air stings pleasantly,
And children play,
I walked along a trail,
That lead only to home.
The damp earth,
Welcomed my footsteps,
And I looked down
Spotting a yellow leaf,
Lying on the ground,
Resting peacefully,
But facing decay,
Something we all must face,
It is painful to say.
This water soaked leaf,
Held my eyes and
Made me stay,
Admiring its profound beauty.
People build cathedrals,
With exquisite handiwork,
And render paintings
Of stunning beauty,
But no person could,
Have made this leaf.
There are atoms,
And firey suns,
Studied by the learned,
But I have found,
My curiosity occupied,
By this leaf on the ground.
