Writer's Cramp entry. Title provided, words in bold required.
Would you pay five dollars for just a single rose?

What would you pay for a laugh or a smile?
Who could tell you the worth of a firewood pile?
Decimals move in a race with inflation.
Coins in the cushion collapse. Desperation!
No wood is just no good when you've got no warmth.

What do you do in an energy crisis,
print more money or just fix prices?
There's paperless billing and widespread anxiety –
nothing to burn in a cashless society.
Heat or eat, bugs or meat, make your choice!

Get your sim card and credit card, cell phone and plastic.
Borrow today, 'cause this deal is fantastic.
You've been pre-approved, but the offer expires
(and variable rates could go twenty times higher).
Buy now and pay later* (*plus taxes and interest, of course).

What would you pay for a memory today?
Do you take from tomorrow? What is the value?
Measure the treasure your garden grows.
What would you pay for a single rose?
If you steal from the future to pay for today, only poverty awaits.
