The Mythical Village of Luna

In a village pressed up against the sea, stories of mythical proportions were the local lore.
Dragons roamed the great mountains that rose up to shelter the village from outsiders.
Their protection was legendary.
From the sea, mermaids provided their own forays, providing passage to only those they deemed worthy.
Few outsiders made their way beyond the protected borders.
Those that did, came away with stories so unreal they were seen as having lost their minds.
The traveller, being labeled a lunatic in his own land, felt compelled to return
And set up a home within the boundary of high crested mountains and frothy sea.
They acclimated, becoming part of the social fabric and living on.
It is said, this village still exists, but few venture to find it.
Those that have gone have never returned
Families and friends know nothing of their disappearance.
They are thought to have died and are forgotten.
Their fate merges within the local lore
And is seen as a way of discouraging others from following in their footsteps.
