A free verse poem written for our son and his new wife |
Time to Breathe in Joy Breathe Lovely sea foam eyes draw me in, held by imaginary velvet ties. Desire to be a prisoner of consent. My home covered in aqua satin, a soft womb woven by steel threads. Breathe Like a spider keeps its prey, disguised as a spun silver embrace. Never have I known passion's strength. precious treasures hidden away, sacraments brought to relish today. Breathe A lesson learned, to keep is to share. My soul shimmers in innocence. Cool sheets invite on a steamy night, Flannel ones, a warm embrace, in cold rain. Joy flows, an abundant spring, golden sunlight. Breathe Indulge in fairy tales, path of jewels, crown of gold, emerald ring, tiger eyes, sapphire navel, ruby toes, marble floors. Time to throw caution to the winds. put your mask on a hook by the door. Breathe Life is a stage of characters. Some come to teach lessons. One or two stay to give. Balance sweet and sour. Don't let the jester sneak in. Exhale The time has come; to crown Amber, a loving generous queen. She chose a man for eternal love. Not a fool on a pile of tarnished golden rings. Kristopher, an honest prince with treasured heart songs. created for the happy couple, Kris and Amber, as they begin life together September 11, 2023 |
