Your vision was to build a boat
and up anchor your ties to the land
You didn't care what broken lives you left behind, afloat.

You cast off as the sun rose over the horizon,
to glisten on the still waters at dawn
The only item you left behind was the chess set's pawn.

I was there to see you off
