I'm Okay

I’m trying my best to be okay.
But sometimes life gets in the way.

To handle situations I can’t control,
I shove them deep into my soul.

Then I cover my hoard with a smile.
But that only lasts for a while.

Eventually, life wins the battle.
but not the war
So, I retreat, battered and sore.

I rest, I cry, and let my wounds heal
And accept that the hurtful things are real.

I get back up, move on

And again,

I try my best to be okay.
Until life gets in the way.
