An attempt at an older-style sonnet -- "rejecting the truth".
A plight infects the boundaries about,
Its wretched claws tear the unwary heart;
Knowing no mercy, rips one’s will apart.
Kneel before its might, invading throughout!
Why does it hold me by its grizzly snout?
Being dragged ferociously by a cart,
With heels in the dirt, shot through like a dart,
Would prove much more pleasing… “Please, let me out!”
Is what I would shout if it were so bad.
The pain likened to developing wings,
Ascending into the baby blue sky
Cradled by clouds… Through the mess of the mad,
I learn the altruism of giving
One’s entity to others; here, we lie.
