Saying Goodbye to a Ghost
I couldn't save you from yourself.
Your demons were my own.
I drank with you. I cried with you.
Your tortured soul has flown.

Haunted. Repentant. Lost in limbo.
I have to let you go.
You left this world a faithless martyr
To pain you could never show.

I wanted to join you then, my guilt consuming.
Irrational notion, though, I knew.
I lived here with your ghost for years assuming
That my capacity to love had died with you.

Misery loves company, as you and I both knew
But you never wanted that life for me.
I have to say goodbye to you.
We both need to be free.

Cheers, Geezer. I hope you're finally resting.
