Contemplating the value of life |
The Forgotten Man gazed at the darkening sky His tiny bright light, a very small to your eye Once I was the Sun with wisdom and grace To now occupy such a miniscule place My knowledge once sought, with reverence and glee Has diminished so small that few can still see I am the same, but to others I am not Knowledge I shared, their minds have forgot I live a life of frustration, not fear Hoping to help those to me dear Withered of body, but still strong of mind Offering succour to those who aren't blind Those who knew so little, now know so much Recoil from suggestions, withdraw from my touch Wondering How, Wondering why My life is forgot, ere I lie down and die Heed me my children, my friends and my peers Listen to what I have learned through my years Wisdom, hard earned does not fade with time It's value remains, it's meaning will shine The Forgotten Man gazed at the darkening sky Wondering How, Wondering why Was my life all for nothing, Did I struggle for nought Why my life discarded, my message forgot. |
