preparations for an apocalyptic snowstorm
Jane drove like a madwoman. The storm was due to hit this evening and she needed to be prepared. She had only one real hope, the supermarket on 1st and Main. The wind was picking up and it was providing a tailwind as she drove. She reached the market and parked in the space between the two handicap spaces. She didn't even wait to lock her car. She rushed inside.

The store was nearly empty. Bottled water, canned meat, ibuprofen, Jane had a list. She grabbed one of the hastily discarded shopping carts and began scooping items from the shelves. There was no fresh fruit left and very little of anything else. She loaded her cart with bandages and canned sardines. She took cans of grapefruit juice because that was all they had left to drink.. She unloaded at the register and paid. Then she headed back to her car.

Overnight the storm raged, the wind howled, and snow fell. The next morning she awoke to a world of white. The storm had pummeled them with half an inch of snow. The city was paralyzed. Schools were closed, and businesses. Jane was glad she had gone to the store yesterday it could be weeks before it was fit to drive.
