To sort of qoute a Pixar movie, "Keep Digging"
A Miners Tale

Another wasted moment,
in a catalogue of time,
Another chance discarded,
for the safety of the black
By far my worst opponent,
by far my biggest crime,
with futures disregarded
... and no way of turning back

Despite the times I do it,
I try to start again,
to build a better future,
on the ashes of what's been
Why do I go through it?
such self inflicted pain
When still I bear the sutures,
of all the sights I've seen

The times when I went mining,
striking barren stone
The times I hit the motherload
and left with hands of dust
Such golden powder shining,
staining to the bone
A brief respite an episode,
so lacking in self trust

When really I should take my pick,
to ore that doesn't hold,
head back down, into the mine,
trace seam back to the source
But striking gold's a greater trick,
when cards just will not fold,
a trick that sadly isn't mine,
so fate, it runs its course

Winding blind through tunnels,
as flecks glint in the walls
Decals from another time,
a time when I was lost
Through darkened caverns, funneled,
by the echoes of your calls,
reasons left without a rhyme,
counting out the cost

The cost of every cold refrain,
to hearts... they take their toll,
with spirits far and near,
transparent with their trust
Show me now, a shining vein,
that winds down to your soul,
and I will show you fear
... in hand of golden dust
