I Am God I am God When I wield my pencil The scepter of the heavens Creating worlds, universes And people All crafted from simple lead And that is not all My pencil can do With it I can control Everything, every move Made by every atom In the universe With it friendships are made With it nemesis’ are forged With it lovers meet And with it hearts of courage die Yes when I wield my pencil I am God I can do whatever I want Ride free on wings of gold Dive deep with fins of amber And walk on metal legs With the power to do whatever I want But being God Is not all fun and games For there are people In these worlds I create Who need care And a story That needs feeding And sometimes one Must make a sacrifice One does not want to make For when I am God I also see the pain of the world When I am God I find myself staring As battles are lost As friendships are tossed As people are hurt As hands slip out of other hands, gone... As their loved ones burn To be lost in ashes on the wind All for the sake Of the story Yes I am God When I write But only until my pencil Runs out of lead For perhaps a mere mortal Should not yet be made a god |
