The neighbor's black cat,
Casts a long shadow through time.
Feigns indifference to the poses,
meows, and cocky walks,
Of rogue outside cats.
He eyeballs his neighborhood,
Through windows and slurs in whispers,
Heard by no one.
The neighbor's black cat,
Is hungry for the fruit of the flesh,
Of the tree rat teasing in the yard,
And would chase it all the way,
To the topmost boughs,
If it could.
The neighbor's black cat,
Knows the cosmos is a vast vat,
Of boiling bubbles in a frothy broth.
The neighbor's black cat,
Contemplates how he'll have to wait,
Before death finally pardons,
His crime of existence. The neighbor's black cat,
Casts a long shadow through time.
