** This poem is meant to have a rhyme scheme, but not a rhythm scheme. The flow might seem off to some of you. It is also written in lower-case until the last lines of the poem to show the gradual build of confidence that these thoughts create in me. ** to feel the sun shine warm on my face and inhale the scent of spring blooms in the air to be in my love's tender embrace and know in my heart he truly cares to see newly sprung buds kissed by dew and feel the cooling touch of a summer rain to have friends who are honest and true and never doubt those friendships will remain to hear the ocean drumming upon the earth and find splendid treasures in the sand to never be far from home and hearth to know the feeling of lending a hand to feel a light breeze caress my cheek and watch birds dance on the wind to be able to doze under a shady oak tree or share my secrets with a friend to feel cool, fresh-cut grass beneath my feet or to walk in newly turned soil to somehow continue to find the answers I seek to go even a day without my mind in turmoil to see my child's very first smile and to hear her first spoken word to get to see her grow up, all the while - These Are The Things My Life is Worth. |
