A Remembrance Day poem I wrote in high school. |
Your Flag, O Canada Howbeit the flag stands above your heads? Above your hands and Above your lives And the people you meet. The soldiers dead in the ground. They are the foundation under your feet, Else you would fall to your knees And the flag fall to the ground Howbeit the flag flutters in the breeze? Free at will and at ease Work and play Building towers or shovelling hay Your hands do as they please Unfettered by any chains. The soldiers dead in the ground. The honor and valor The unending spirit The heroes such as these Your flag, O Canada, would have been white, Not stained by the blood of these. Howbeit the flag stands above your head? So that you might look up to the dead. |
