Spring is Sprung

This poem is entered in "The Writer's Cramp" . The prompt was to write a poem or story with the title of "Spring is Sprung."


To begin again
with a fresh mowed lawn
butterflies dance on the deck
basset hound sleeps in a new patch of sun

And then the letter was sent
Up jumped the mean and selfish complaint
just like always
focused on the face in the mirror

But wouldn't it be nice?
To begin again?
to think of the situations others face
others beyond the vanity ridden piece of winter's broken glass?

Spring is sprung this March of torrent
a new day seems full of promise
a lifetime beyond the focus on a word
Yes it will start again, you know -

with or without your tantrum in the rain.
