In a world filled of despair and ruin, one can only run. But with running, comes mistake.
Lingering By Beau Bilbo

“EregnEghhh!” The unknown sound screamed, as i felt a warm, slow, trickle of blood travel down my head. I felt my body scream at me. Screaming to get up, yet cry out in anguish at the same time.

“Erghhhh!” That familiar ringing hit my ears as i felt the rough concrete sidewalk below me, soaking my head in my own blood.

I felt my mind scream at me to get up. It felt even more urgent. My head throbbed in pain.

I focus my blurry eyes on my nearby glock-17, scratched up and across from me. ‘Did i get shot?’
“Ergth!” I heard the sound again, just for a moment above me. I then spotted the large hole, fifty feet above me, the wooden floor broken.

‘I fell didn’t i?’ The thought managed to cross my head’s confused, yet suffering thorb.

I felt my legs and arms scrape across the cracked concrete floor. The pain increased.
‘Were they broken? …’No they couldn’t be.’

‘ I just moved them didn’t i?’ I looked at the bloody long sweatshirt that cling tightly to my chest, and then slowly at my ripped jeans.

“Get up.” My own voice played in my head, as i felt the warm tingly side of my head with my wobbling hand.
Blood. Yes blood. I felt my body instinctively move slightly upwards, but soon it screamed with angozing pain. I fell back down.
“we are dying aren't we?” I heard my mind say to my useless body.

A sharp, painful gulp hits me. Like glass had went down it. Part of me then shivered at the thought.
But then, from my pitiful gaze to the left, was a bloody creature shambling over.
Slowly. Lingering. As if uncertain.
It held a teddy bear in one hand and three fingers remained on the other. It's long, unkempt hair swayed, as it cocked it's head.
Those blue eyes had a blood lust to them;dead, frenzied.

I felt panic spike in my body, as my mind started to scream. My eyes wide as the ones of a icey dead man’s. As i finally remembered how everything came to be.

I was running from these diseased. They were gaining on me. I lost track of Anno. The only person i cared about in this destroyed world. The little “girl” moved closer.

Then i was running above, the floorboards weak with time. Then i felt nothing below as a scream became silent with a pitch-black haze. Then i was here.

“Get up.” My mind begins to plea, as i felt my arm agonizingly reach across for the glock.
No. I can’t die. I felt every fiber scream in me, as i yanked harder towards the glock.
It lingered, yet came closer with a stray look. Sweat drenched my face as i felt terror.

“Suhffef!” It dragged forward, still slow and lingering. I felt a heart wrenching jab.
I felt the solid graze of metal, as my finger desperately flexed for the glock.

“Suhffef!” It’s dragging became quicker. I nearly scream. My hand pads and scrapes the glock, as my eyes go wide in fear. The desperation was hitting me.

“Shuffle! Shuffle!” It began to get quicker, louder, while i clenched my teeth with terror. The glock began to slide over into my hand in little strides.

“Arghh!” I heard it moan with a newer, more frenzied state. I was screaming in my mind.
My hand screamed, as i felt my arm lift the glock, a finger unconsciously gripped into the trigger tightly.

“Arggg!!” It’s feet then pounded the floor fiercely, as my body flipped with agony, and with terror in my finger, it finally slammed the trigger.

“Bang!” the shot echoed loudly, as i heard it gurgle, and drops of blood slammed into the ground.

“AhhhH!” I finally managed to scream, as i felt my hand squeeze over and over, shot after shot hitting it.
“Thump!” It fell onto the ground, a gurgle escaping its mouth. It’s blue eyes meeting my terrorized ones. I only then heard my feet pound the floor. Blood kept dropping everywhere.

I couldn't feel.

The ringing echoed in my head.Yet i kept running. I lost track of time.

I finally snapped out of my haze, as i felt my hand bang a door, and my other bloody hand gripped the glock. The door opened to a beautiful brown haired girl, where a man with a shotgun stood beside, a wide look showed to their faces.
“Isaac!” The brown haired girl screamed with tears, while i received a hug of relief.
“Anno..” I muttered, while gripping her hand, slowly walking back in;until i stopped halfway.

“What’s wrong? We need to help you now.” Anno’s voice played behind me, as i stared out towards the city. The burning, ruined, destroyed city. My eyes glazed it unlovingly. The little girl’s face flashes in my mind. It lingered. Hesitated to get me. I felt my head throb, as a new pain grasped my heart. I slowly leaned down, grabbing a broken shard of glass, and stared into my blue eyes. Then into my chestnut hair. Her hair matched.

The image of her flashes in my mind.

“Isaac!” She called. “Let’s go to the park!” She called again, as my eyes skimmed away from the happily playing children, and running cars, then to her blue eyes.

I dropped my glock with a sense of pain.

“Wait up sis!” I called while running to her. My mouth gaped with pain. I shot my sister.
