Odyssey of the Dead

Two people are reincarnated into the Hungry Ghost realm when they die, a place where only the likes of murderers, rapists, and greedy thieves go. One is the great King Yama from the Pure Land, the other is a college student named Rei who's dreams died long before she did, neither had done anything wrong in their past lives, neither has any idea why they are there.

Told through a series of folktales steeped in Buddhist lore, this is the story of how King Yama reaches enlightenment and becomes the gatekeeper of the dead, and how Rei comes to terms with her past.
