A fable of love
Her Name was Won, his name was Lee
and they built a house in the DMZ
on top of a tree, on top of a tree

She walked from Se-dong one dark night
among the shades of the searching lights
ready for gunfight, ready for gunfight

He'd come from Seoul to stand his post
protect a ghost from another ghost

As the marshes roasted in the moon

They touched in the dark and it was dark enough to see
they had each other and nowhere else to flee
They touched in the dark and it was dark enough to see
they had each other and nothing else to be (x2)

Spoonbills and cranes chanted one day
your eyes are daughters of the lake
shaded and brave, eager and quaved

The black bear came to cast his claws
lay down old reigns and rotten laws
your soul's like straws, feathers and halms

Tigers and deer spoke through the leaves
your hands are bloom, your bones are twigs

Then the river rumbled waves of gloom

The sky was a spark and it turned dark enough to bleed
but they had each other and nowhere else to flee
The silence at last and all the stars they'd never seen
They had each other and nowhere else to be
