A girl finds herself in the hands of a group of elite vampires. All with tragic pasts.
I lay there as the delicate snow fell gracefully from the dull grey, lifeless skies. He gazed down at me in wonder, His long black, silky hair blew effortlessly in the chilled breeze as his eyes shone like the moon at the peak of winter.
His body leaning over me like an angel, but I knew he was no angel. He was far from being an angel for he was a tortured soul, a blood drinking monster whom was destined to kill people like me for the very sake of living.
It felt strange being in his presence; I expected him to lunge at me, killing me and drinking my blood like a starved animal but yet he didn't.

We continued to stare into each others eyes, he appeared to be deep in thought. It seemed so calm and peaceful with nothing around us for miles other than the thick snow that had settled upon the ground and heavy fog which embraced the valleys around us.
I had no choice but to remain calm, even if I tried to escape I was too weak to get very far in the condition I was in, not to mention I couldn't remember what had happened before the fall from the air that I had just experienced. My body felt incredibly sore, I wouldn't have been surprised if I had a case of mild concussion to go with my amnesia.
Was this all just some obscure dream? Was I dead? I tried to concentrate but my damp clothing caused icy chills to flow throughout my body.

A disembodied laugh come from somewhere far in the distance, it echoed right through me and gave me the sudden realisation that we were not alone. I turned my head to investigate but I could see no further than a few meters away..
He leaned in closer and pressed his hand firmly over my mouth, his hair slipped from his shoulders and fell, shadowing over me so that I could not see what was about to happen.
A bitter gust of air blew past, allowing me to smell to distinct scent of old parchment ink and the remnants of a dying candle behind the scent of the damp earthy smell lingering upon his clothing.

“Don't move,” He whispered softly into my ear.

I began to feel a dark and sinister presence, my heart began to beat faster and faster, The world around us seemed to plunge into a deathly silence, just like the silence before a storm.
He swung himself around as somebody came hurtling towards us, I flinched at the sudden jolt while he forced them backwards before standing tall, shielding me with his entire body.
The unknown man laughed as he got to his feet, brushing the dirt from his clothing. His silvery-white hair twisting and turning like spiders silk as the breeze began to intensify. His sinister looking eyes as red as pyrope garnets looking straight through us as if we were made of glass.

“Sabian, oh Sabian” He laughed, shaking his head side to side as if disappointed yet amused.

The look in his eyes sent an outbreak of fear through me, pinning me to the spot. The look of murder, hatred, lies and deceit caught in the moment of conflict between them.

“Balun,” Sabian nodded, his body not moving an inch, his guard seemed unbreakable.

“It has been a while since we last spoke, is it not? May I ask, How is your dear sister?” Balun asked, grinning.

“Is your memory failing you? Murderer!” He growled.

My eyes widened, I could hear the pain that was flowing through him as if it were my very own. They both obviously had a long history between each other, one which I'd possibly never be able to understand and one which I'd best not to get myself involved in.
Looking up at the sky there was now a slight opening in the clouds between the flurries of snow, which allowed the blood red sunset to illuminate everything with an aerie glow.
I looked at them again to see that Balun still had that sly grin on his face, what was going on in his mind?

“You seem to have my human,” He pointed out, turning his gaze over to me, his grin turned into a scowl.

“She is far from being yours,” Sabian replied, moving over to block his view of me.

I couldn't help but to notice how calm and collected he seemed despite of what Balun was saying. I myself could feel anger welling up inside me, but I didn't want to say anything in case I made the situation worse.

Balun shrugged, leaping towards me. I flinched again, his actions had caught me off guard but Sabian grabbed hold of his clothing and threw him backwards. Both of their reactions seemed so fast, I knew that if I made the wrong move my life could have been taken away from me just as quick.
Balun regained his posture and aimed for me again, I slid myself backwards into the snow.
Why was Balun only going after me? Why was Sabian trying so hard to help me when he could have easily made an escape by now.

Balun charged at him with enraged eyes and before I knew it they had both engaged in combat. Blood began to spill from their wounds as they both became fully fixated on destroying each other.
I felt utterly helpless, their movements were becoming faster by the minute and it began to become harder to track them both.
I lay there, watching them as there was nothing more that I could have done. I knew that I couldn't stop them, would they even be able to hear me if I called out to them? All I could do was watch while hoping that Sabian would turn out as the victor.

A storm appeared to be brewing up from within the clouds and the wind began to blow snow against my face, The cold started to take its toll on my body. My hands and feet were beginning to hurt, I clenched my fists together to warm myself up it had little to no effect.
My eyes were drawn back to the fight as I caught a glimpse of the deep gashes that had been inflicted upon them. It appeared that Sabians wounds were causing his reactions to slow, I started losing what little confidence I had in him then found myself becoming desperate.

Tears began to well up at the corner of my eyes, I looked down at the floor trying to look away from the bloodshed, but in the back of my mind I still knew it was there. There was no escape.
Opening my mouth I attempted to call out for help but nothing came out. My mind had become clouded with darkened thoughts.
A splash of blood flew through the air and landed directly in front of me. My heart felt as though it had paused for a split second... I was terrified... Terrified of what was there right in front of me.
I looked over to see Balun bombarding him with a series of punches leaving him staggering side to side before he finally fell to the floor, stunned.

I shook my head in denial as Balun turned his back to him then began making his way over to me. Tears began to stream down my cheeks as I looked into his eyes...
Please... No!
Balun paused and grinned, I looked down to see that Sabian had firmly gripped his leg to stop him from reaching me.

“Don't underestimate me,” He stated, pulling himself up. I could see that he was in pain, chances looked slim to none that he'd survive another beating.

I heard a loud tearing of flesh, then another deathly silence. Was it over? I raised my eyes once more to see that Sabian had inflicted a large wound straight through Baluns stomach.
Balun looked me in the eyes before falling to the ground, Sabian stood over him with his back to me like a statue.
I prepared myself for the worst and as he turned around my eyes widened to see blood dripping from his mouth, creeping down his chin and falling upon his already blood stained clothes. He looked lost, clueless and dazed before he to fell to his knees.

I was now having a battle with my own thoughts, the proof was right there before me, he was indeed a killer, But was he really no different from Balun?
I found myself leaning closer towards him but still keeping my distance. I was taken back seeing the look of innocence in his eyes before he fell closing his eyes in exhaustion.
Trying to absorb all the information, I began to look around us to figure out the best choices. The sight of blood caused my stomach to churn, a horrible feeling of sickness came over me and even though I was trying my hardest I just couldn't ignore it.
I had been caught in a fight between two unnatural beings and now all of our fates were in my hands alone.

After a while of contemplating I found the courage to crawl to his side, he hadn't moved at all since the fight ended which caused me a great deal of concern. Nudging his arm gently I hoped to get some response, but I received none. I found myself falling into a state of panic.

“Sabian,” I whispered, nudging his arm again.

I waited and waited, but still nothing. My state of panic grew stronger as I realised that he wasn't showing any signs of conciousness.

“Sabian,” I whispered again, closing my eyes to stop my own tears from escaping.

Taking a deep breath to calm myself, I opened my eyes and looked around at our surroundings once more. I had no idea where we were and I had no idea where I could get help.
Despite him being a vampire I was fully aware that I had no choice but to somehow save him. I had to pull myself together or none of us were getting out alive. I looked at him with determination, I couldn't let his victory go to waste!

“Sabian!,” I shouted, nudging his arm with all my strength.

“Wake up!,” I shouted again, pulling him onto his back.

To see his blooded up face so close nearly made me feel nauseous, I feared that if I had to witness any more bloodshed I'd lose my sanity.
I took another deep breath and coughed, the cold air went straight to my lungs. How long did I have left? If I were really going to wake him I'd have to do it soon.
How could I possibly save a vampire? I recapped my options in a hurry trying to save him.
Vampires... Vampires... I started to become frustrated with myself, why was it so hard to think!
It came to me... Blood! The one thing that was causing me the most distress was most likely going to have the complete opposite effect on him.

Lifting my shaky hand up to my face the thought of offering my own blood had crossed my mind, but I feared the consequences that may arise from such a decision. Could I trust him with my blood... My life?
Reluctantly, I moved my fingertips towards his mouth, stopping so close that I was nearly touching his lips. I hesitated for a moment before giving in. I opened his mouth and pressed the tip of my index finger upon one of his fangs. I winced in pain, it was so much sharper than I had expected.
Clenching my fist in my free hand, I squeezed my finger letting the blood drip and waited once again for signs of improvement.
Still nothing... And now I had been overcome by the cold, my body began so feel weak I was struggling to keep myself upright. I fell into the snow beside him but made sure that my fingertip was still at his mouth hoping for a miracle.

“Come on, drink it!” I demanded.

He lifted his arm and placed his hand over mine. A strange feeling of relief with a hint of fear ran through me. What was he going to do now? I wanted to move my hand away from him but I knew that I couldn't.
To think that vampires were real and to think that I was even offering one my blood, Was I becoming delirious? I lay pondering my own sanity. He slid my hand away from him while turning his head to look me in the eyes, What was he thinking? Why did he refuse my blood?

“I'm sorry” He muttered.

Why was he sorry? He had just saved me from Balun whom wanted to end my life, surely it should have been me that was sorry.

“Why...” I questioned.

“I cannot drink your blood” He replied sincerely.

“Why?” I asked again, I needed to know. Could he not put my mind at ease? Did he not understand the situation we were in? Did he not care about what would happen to us if he didn't?

“... You could die” He muttered, his voice full of worry.

I could see that his eyes were not those of a human but still, I could feel the humanity somewhere within his soul. This feeling alone reassured me enough to push on with my plan, I'd have to convince him.

“It's okay, We'll both be stuck here if you don't,” I laughed nervousy, I couldn't allow my true feelings to show at a time like this.

I'll admit to myself that I was scared... In fact I was terrified, but then again who wouldn't have been. He took my hand and moved it to his lips. I put on a fake smile to hide how nervous I was until he bit into my skin.
I winced as the pain shot through my hand, the feeling of blood trickling down my skin brought shivers down my spine. To make things even more uncomfortable for me he decided to lick the drips from me as if he didn't want to waste a single drop.
Such a bizarre sensation, an experience that I would never quite be able to explain. The closest thing that I could compare it to would have been having a leach attached to myself, but obviously on a much larger scale allowing my blood to be drained much faster... This was a feeling I'd never be able to get used to.
Why I was comparing him to a leech was beyond me, but it made me feel more at ease trying to think of words to describe him in the most amusing ways as possible. I let out a brief chuckle and his eyes met mine as if he were confused, I quickly looked up at the clouds to avoid confrontation.

Time had passed and he had still not finished. The sun had slowly began to fade, hiding the crystallised blood that had been spilt around us.
I could hear the sound of wolves in the distance but it didn't seem to bother him, they must have still been quite far away.
My body was becoming numb and my vision had become blurry... Would he ever stop?

“Sabian...” I muttered, my clenched fist falling to my side.

I had began to drift in and out of consciousness but I continued with the plan. I was a fool... But this was the only way.
Struggling to keep my eyes open they eventually closed and I fell into darkness.
