Another poem, more personal this time. Small trigger warning, I just need to get this out.
Slowly


Slowly
We move along
Not stopping to think, not stopping to see.

Slowly
We share a song
Barely stopping to blink, not realizing we are free.

But if you really stop to look, you can see us hiding behind a book.
But if you really stop to watch, you can see others chugging down scotch.
But if you really turn to me, you can watch my silent plea,
As I cry under my sleeves, where cuts silence thee

I hide behind fake smiles, forced laughs,
As I walk along aisles, hiding myself with a mask.
Can I go on, if others keep watching?
While others laugh honestly, ready to sing.

Slowly
We stop realizing the pain
That others suffer every day

Slowly
The marks become harder to see along the vein
As others start to think of me as their prey.
