Let's match two characters together and see what happens!!
[Introduction]
Hello! It's time for some Romance!!!!
Our story begins in New York City, Central Park.

Our first character, Trent, was sitting on a bench by himself. He loved the feeling of the wind softly rubbing on his shoulder. He closes his eyes and smiles, enjoying his time alone.

But what he didn't know.....was that he was about to meet the love of his life.
Jessica was enjoying her walk through the park and started feeling a little hungry; being new to the area she was really uncertain where to eat. Just ahead she saw a man sitting on the bench.

"He looks pleasant enough" she said to herself. She decided she'd ask him for a recommendation.
Trent hums to himself softly. After a moment he opens his eyes right as he heard footsteps. He looks over to the source of them and sees a nice looking girl. He then notices that she was walking towards him. "Hello, can I help you with something?"
Jessica stopped about three feet from him, careful not to get too close or invade his space. Her friends back home had warned her that New Yorkers like their space.

"Hi there. Sorry to bother you, but is there a decent place around here to get a bite to eat? Nothing too pricey." Jessica asked with a smile.
"Why yes there is. There is this amazing Italian restaurant over at Times Square. Carmine's Italian Restaurant I think it was, amazing food, service and pricing is perfect."
Jessica smiled and thanked him. As she turned to walk away the thought of Italian food sounded absolutely perfect. A big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs would hit the spot right now. Jessica glanced over her shoulder to grab one last look at the man on the bench, he was a handsome man, she definitely noticed.
Trent never took his gaze away from Jessica. He thought she was a cute girl. He gets up and calls after her. "Ma'am?"
"Yes?" she slowly turned around, feeling her cheeks flushed from embarrassment.
"How about I take you there?" He offered. It would be a lot better than just sitting alone at the park.
It took her a moment to register what he had just said. She didn't even know his name, or anything about him for that matter. "I can't believe I'm even considering this." she said to herself. Somehow, she felt it would be okay. "Sure, but you're going to have to tell me your name, at least."
"Of course! Where are my manners? I'm Trent." He says, happy that she actually took the offer. "May I know the name of the nice lady who I'm driving to the restaurant?"
"I'm Jessica" she said with a smile and outstretched hand, offering a handshake to seal the introduction.

"Do you mind if we walk, Trent? It's a beautiful day." she was reluctant to get in a car alone with hm. He seems nice enough to share a lunch, but she wasn't ready to throw caution to the wind, just yet.
Trent shakes her hand and nods. "Fine with me, I understand that you're being careful. A random guy who helps you is taking you to lunch.....okay......that sounded kinda weird."
His comments made her chuckle nervously and she immediately felt more at ease. Maybe she had finally met a nice guy. As they walked to Carmine's, the conversation was easy and comfortable.
As they walked, Trent told Jessica a few jokes to make the whole thing more comfortable. His favorite one was

"For Halloween my friend and I dressed up as almonds. Everyone could tell we were nuts."
The pair were enjoying their time together, Jessica laughed at his silly jokes and before they knew it had arrived at their destination.

He opened the door for her and she smiled and thanked him. It was a cute and cozy place.
He smiles as he led her to a table. "Order whatever you want, lunch is on me."
"Thank you Trent, but that's not necessary. I really appreciate it, but I'm just happy to have the company." she smiled.

Jessica was really starting to like this guy and she didn't want him thinking she was so easily won over. It's not like this was a date or anything, they just met!
Trent never thought that. "Okay then. If you insist." He nods. "I'm just glad you don't think I'm weird or a creep......"
"Well, I'm still undecided about the weird or creepy part." she laughed and threw him a wink so that he'd know she was joking around.

The waiter approached with menus and two large glasses of water. "Here you go folks, can I bring you anything else to drink while you look over the menu?"

Jessica ordered a glass of Cabernet and asked if there were any specials.
"I'm afraid we don't have specials today." The waiter apologizes.

Trent orders a glass of Chardonnay.
“What do you recommend, Trent? How’s the lasagna?” Jessica inquired.
"Okay.......think of the best lasagna you've ever had.......and throw it out because the lasagna here is amazing. The cheese melts in your mouth, the sauce is homemade and fresh........heck, the noodles are actually good compared to most places I've been to."
The waiter arrived with their wine, sat them down and asked if they were ready to order.
"I need another minute, please." Jessica smiled to the waiter.
"No worries, ma"am. I'll be back in a minute with garlic rolls."
Trent keeps looking at the menu. He knew what he wanted......he just tries to make a good first impression on Jessica by not staring at her.
The waiter returned with garlic rolls and asked if they were ready to order.

"I'll have the lasagna, please." Jessica said.
"I'll have the Ravioli with cheese." Trent decides.
Jessica raised her wine glass and offered a toast.

"To new friendships." and smiled.
Trent smiles and raises his glass too. "To new friendships."
Jessica smiles and drinks for her glass. Setting it down she asks Trent to tell her a little about himself.
Trent nods and takes a sip of his wine. "Let's see.....I am currently a security guard for a jewelry store. Right now I'm taking a
two week vacation. I live in my apartment with my kitten..." He takes out his phone and shows her a picture of her. https://www.askideas.com/media/20/Black-Cute-Munchkin-Kitten.jpg
"Oh Trent! You have a kitty!" Jessica gushed. "I love cats! What's her name?"
"I love them too." Trent chuckles. "Especially Luna here. She was on the side of the road, starving and lonely.........so I took her in and now she's recovering."
"She's adorable, Trent!" Jessica said as she handed his phone back to him, their fingers gently brushing in the exchange.

Just then, conveniently, the waiter appeared with their salads. She was glad for the distraction and hoped it would detract from her flushed cheeks.
"Thanks....she is." Trent takes his phone and was relieved when the salad arrived. He was becoming nervous since he could feel the heat on his cheeks.
"Who is this man?" Jessica wondered to herself while rearranging the salad on the plate with her fork.
'I swear I'm going to ruin this friendship......like I always do.....' Trent thinks to himself as he takes another sip of his drink.
"I heard they're lighting up the Christmas Tree tonight at Rockefeller Center tonight." she said hoping he'd take the bait. She really wanted to go and didn't want to experience it alone.
"I'll go with you if you wish." Trent offers, having nothing better to do
"You will? Great. Thank you." Jessica cursed herself for being so forward. But there was something about this man and she wanted to get to know him better.
"No problem." Trent nods. 'OH GOD WHAT DID I JUST DO!?!?!' Trent thinks.
Jessica noticed that Trent was getting a little fidgety and started to have doubts. Maybe she was too forward and he agreed to meet her because he was too nice to tell her he had better things to do.

She was about to tell him to forget it when the waiter brought the food.
"Thank you." Trent says quickly. He is relieved that the food arrived.....now they could talk about other things. "So.......you like New York so far?"
“Well, I just arrived yesterday and so far have only been to Central Park. So far, I like it fine. Thanks. How long have you lived here?”

Jessica didn’t realize how hungry she was until she smelled her food.
"My whole life....I only left once on a family trip to Florida but I was really young then, I can't remember it that well...." Trent looks down at the food and remembered that he was really hungry.
They enjoyed their meal and made small talk, ordered second glasses of wine and the time flew by.
After a while, the question Trent needed to ask finally came up.

"What time will we head to Rockefeller Center?"
Jessica was just about to sip her wine when she heard Trent's question and replied in almost a whisper,
"You really want to go with me?"
"Honestly.." Trent didn't have to think. "Yes I do." He nods. "I'd like to get to know you a bit more before we part ways."
Jessica smiled. "I'd really like that too. Do you think 6 o'clock is a good time? Where should we meet?"
"6 o'clock is a great time........and I think we should meet at Rockefeller Plaza." Trent replies with a shy smile.

'I can't believe I'm doing this.......' He thinks to himself.
Just then the waiter returns to the table to collect their empty plates and offer dessert.
Jessica declines, "I'm stuffed and can't even consider eating another bite of anything!"
Trent nods in agreement. "Yea, the meal was wonderful and filling."
Just as the waiter was bringing the check, Jessica reached for her wallet to pay her portion.
"I'm going to need to change and get ready for tonight. Do you think it'll be very cold tonight?" she asked Trent
Trent grabs his wallet and gets his debit card ready to pay for his portion and a $50 bill to pay as a tip. "Oh yes, it will be. New York is known to be very cold this time of year. Back in November I participated in an event where people ran into the ocean to raise money. I think it was the Polar Plunge........it was back at November and it was still cold as hell."
"Oh goodness! I'll be sure to bundle up then." Jessica starts to slip on her coat, getting ready to leave.
"I'll be waiting for you at 6:00"
"Thank you Trent, see you there!" Jessica waves as she walk away.
Walking back to her apartment she is mentally going through her closet trying to decide what she'll wear tonight.
Trent smiles as he leaves. He quickly rushes to his apartment so he could find a good outfit. As he ran into his apartment, Luna ran over to him.
Jessica is talking to herself the whole time she's getting ready...
"It's not like it's a date. It's no big deal. Just friends, that's it."
But at the same time, she couldn't get her mind off of Trent.
Trent chuckles and picks Luna up. "Hey girl, I met a new friend today." He remembers that he needed to change and sets her down. "Can't cuddle right now, gotta change!" He ran to the closet and looks through it.
Jessica finished getting ready deciding on jeans, boots, her new red sweater and her black p-coat. Grabbed her hat, scarf and at 5:30 decides to start heading out. Maybe grab a coffee on the way.
Trent grabbed a pair of black jeans, dress-shoes, a green jacket and a pair of black gloves. He looks at the time. '5:30.........wow.......I'm nervous.'
With her coffee in hand, Jessica arrives at Rockefeller Plaza about 10 minutes early. She's standing near the skating rink and looking at the enormous tree. They never discussed where the'd find each other but this seemed like a logical spot.
Trent arrives at the Plaza 5 minutes after Jessica did. He looked around for her until he spotted her looking at the tree. He slowly approaches her.
Jessica turned around just in time to see Trent walking her direction. She offered him a smile and waved at him.
Trent shyly waves back and reaches her. "Hey Jessica." He returns the smile.
"Did you get to play with your kitty Luna while you were home? She just have been happy to see you."
Jessica was hoping she got the name right, she was torn between Luna and Lola.
"I did for a few minutes. She always runs to me when I get home...." He chuckles at that thought. "I love Luna....I'm lucky to find such a sweet kitten....I just hope I can find a friend for her soon. She gets pretty lonely after a few hours."
"Everyone needs a companion. I'm sure you'll find another fur-baby for her."
Jessica was looking around and asked Trent, "Is this a good spot for us or should we go somewhere else to see better?"
Trent looks at the tree from where they were. "Actually......I think we should get a better spot."
It was really getting crowded and Jessica was afraid they'd get separated so she reached out and grabbed the fabric of Trent's jacket for security. Jessica really hated crowds, they made her nervous. When Trent felt her grab his jacket he turned to Jessica and she gave a nervous smile and said. "I'm sorry." Then let go.
"No.......it's fine.......I don't want to get separated from you." Trent replies.
Jessica smiled, thanked him and reached out for his jacket again.
Trent then took her hand in his and they made their way to a better spot.
Trent tries to hide his flustered cheeks.
Jessica notices Trent's rosy cheeks and figures it so cold out that hers are probably just as red.
Trent sighs to himself and looks at the tree.
"What time will they actually light the tree, do you know?"
"No idea.....I never went to this before."

Trent has a tradition the night that the tree lights, he always makes a wish. He knows it's pretty stupid.....but he just does it because his family did it for years. He decided now was the best time. 'I can only think of one thing to wish for........and this is pretty weird for me to consider........but if there is even a chance that she actually likes me......more than a friend.............I'd like to know......' Trent thought to himself.
Jessica always dreamed of this moment. Being here watching the Christmas tree get lit up... but in her dream she was getting kissed under the sparkling lights.

Jessica stares at Trent and starts daydreaming... he seems like such a nice guy, funny, friendly, and cute.
Trent looks at Jessica and smiles. "I'm happy to be here with you."
Jessica catches herself staring at Trent and smiles. "I am too. Thank you."
"No problem."
The two chatted easily, the more comfortable they became around each other, the easier it was to find things to talk about.

Trent smiles as they talked. It was so easy to talk to her, it felt like they have known each-other for years.
The festivities were getting under way, the tree lighting would happen very soon. It was getting more crowded and Jessica was getting increasingly anxious. She wrapped her arm around Trents' arm for security, he looked at her and smiled.

"I'm sorry, I just hate big crowds." Jessica apologized.
Trent nods. "No problem. I don't like crowds either. It's why I never went to these in the past. Just stick close to me and they'll light the tree soon."
"Thank you for understanding Trent." Jessica said as a tear ran down her cheek.
Trent looks at her. "Something wrong Jessica......we can leave if you want to."
"No, no. I want to see the tree. I'm fine, really." She said.
"Okay..if you need anything, just tell me."
As nervous as she felt, there was something in her that told Jessica everything would be alright.
Just then, the crowd started counting down and suddenly the tree lit up spectacularly! Jessica looked at the tree in amazement and said, "Wow" almost breathlessly.
Trent smiles widely when the tree lit up. "This is even more beautiful than watching it on TV."
"Oh it really is! I'm so glad I got to see it. And I'm grateful you came with me." She said to Trent.
"It was no problem. I'm happy you asked me to be here with you."
"I would like some hot coffee, care to join me? I'm freezing!" Jessica said.
"I'd love to join you!" Trent nods
There was a coffee shop just around the corner and since it was so cold out, they were pretty busy.
Trent makes sure to keep Jessica close as they walked over to the coffee shop
"How are you folks doing tonight? What can I get you?" the cashier said cheerfully.

"Hi, I'd like a large Cafe Mocha with whipped cream, please." Jessica ordered.
"And I would like a large Latte." Trent orders
"It doesn't look like there's anywhere to sit, Trent." Jessica says while looking around.
"Don't worry about that. I know what to do. I'm a regular here."

Trent slips the cashier his VIP gold card. "I'd like my normal table please."
The cashier then called the manager and Trent and the manager exchanged greetings.

Jessica took this as an opportune time to excuse herself to the ladies room.
The table was already taken by someone with a silver card.

"I pay $105 a month for my status, either you get me and my friend a table or I'll cancel my card and take my business elsewhere."
Jessica returned from the restroom and as Trent handed her her coffee, she asked him, “Do you mind if we walk a bit? It’s so crowded in here.”
"I don't mind at all."
“ thank you Trent.”
"No problem Jessica" Trent says with a smile
"I'm not sure what I was thinking by moving here. It's so crowded everywhere." She sighed
"Well.....I've been thinking about leaving........but I don't have any friends outside of New York......"
"Where would you move to Trent?" Jessica inquired.
"France....always adored their wine and food."
"That does sound exciting and like quite an adventure!" she replied.
"I don't know anyone there.......and nobody here was willing to go with me....so I'm stuck here."
Jessica stopped walking, grabbed Trent's arm, and looked at him for a moment. He seemed taken aback by her abrupt stop and asked if she was ok, to which she replied, "Trent to you believe in fate? In destiny?"
"To be frank with you.....yes I do." Trent says with a nod
Jessica started walking again and he could see that she was wiping tears from her eyes. How could she tell him? He would think she was crazy, a lunatic! She felt so conflicted and full of emotion.
Before she could get far, Trent grabs HER arm and stops her. "Look......we had a long night...........and I think we just need some rest." He takes out a piece of paper and fills out his cell phone and home phone number. "Call me in the morning....." He hands it to her. "......Okay?"
"Okay, Trent. Thank you. I'm sorry." Jessica uttered softly.
"No problem.....goodnight Jessica."
"Good night, Trent. Thank you for everything." Jessica then gave him a soft kiss on the cheek and turned to walk away, making her way to her apartment.
Trent blush return as he smiles. 'What a nice girl......I hope to see her again in the morning........I hope she sees that I also wrote my address and apartment number on it just in case I can't answer the phone.' He thinks to himself as he walks home.
Once Jessica got home she hung up her coat, slipped off her boots and pulled the paper from Trent out of her pants pocket. She unfolded the paper and found he had written down his phone number and address. She smiled as she entered his information into her phone, saving him as a contact. She decided a cup of tea would hit the spot and went to the kitchen to turn on the kettle. While the water was left to boil, Jessica changed into her warm, cozy pajamas.

Jessica made herself a cup of chamomile tea, grabbed her book and went to relax in bed. She was ready to unwind, the crowds really drained her. Despite the crowds and the cold weather, she enjoyed being with Trent. He was kind and understanding, not pushy and loud. She tried to read her book but after reading the same line several times, realized her mind was wandering and thinking only of Trent.
//Aww.......this is so much fun to do! And so cute!

Trent got home shortly after parting ways with Jessica. He thought she was kind and cute. A chuckle escapes him as he thought of her soft, warm hand. Even when he played with Luna.....the thought of Jessica wouldn't leave his mind. 'Was I......destined to meet her?' Trent wonders.
The next morning Jessica woke up bright and early. While eating breakfast she read through the news on her phone. After washing dishes and getting dressed she picked up her phone and tapped on the 'Contacts' icon and quickly searched for Trent's numbers. She looked at and considered calling him, then changed her mind. She grabbed her coat, purse and decided to go run errands.

Trent woke up the next morning at 6:30 AM. He smiles at the small adorable ball of fur cuddled up next to him. Luna jumps up excitedly as Trent started to pet her head softly. She quickly walked over to him and poked his nose with her paw. Trent chuckles and plays with her, still thinking about Jessica. The thoughts never left his head since last night.
While running around and doing her Christmas shipping, Jessica's mind seems constantly on Trent. She stopped into a coffee shop and ordered a Cafe mocha and a latte. Just at the moment, she decided she'd surprise him and show up at his door with coffee.

"What's the worst that can happen, right?" she said to herself.

Trent gets out of bed and picks Luna and holds her close. He goes over to his couch and sits down to cuddle with her.
Jessica approaches Trent's building and starts to doubt herself. "What am I thinking?", she mutters to herself.
She finally decides to go in, her hands are shaking and she starts to climb the stairs. As Jessica finds herself in front of his door...
Trent chuckles again as he nuzzles her head. "I know......I missed you too Luna."
After the pacing the hall for several minute, and raising the suspicions of one the neighbors, Jessica finally knocked on Trent's door.
Luna jumps up and runs over to the door, taking the time to scratch at it.

Trent smiles and walks over to the door and looks through the eyehole.
Just as Jessica starts to walk away, Trent opens the door. She immediately start blushing and says "Good morning! I brought coffee."
"Morning Jessica!" Trent replies with a small smile and a dark blush.

Luna looks at the stranger and hid behind Trent
"Hello little Luna! Oh Trent she's adorable!" Jessica says as she shoves the coffee's in his hands to pick up Luna.

"Oh gosh! I'm sorry Trent! I saw the kitty and lost my manners." Jessica laughed nervously.
Luna purrs and nuzzles her cheek.

Trent nods. "It's fine Jessica."
Cuddling with Luna seemed to calm Jessica down, she was such a friendly and cute kitten.
"I'm sorry for dropping by unannounced, Trent. Hope that's okay." she spluttered.
"I actually appreciate you coming over." Trent replies.

Luna meows softly
Jessica hands Luna to Trent and takes her coffee from him. "I just wanted to pop in with coffee and say hello. I will be on my way."
Trent takes Luna. "No........I'd........I'd appreciate it more if you'd stay......" Trent says softly.
Jessica tries not to smile too broadly, "I'd like that, thank you. As long as I'm not interrupting anything."
"Nah......I just woke up recently."
"Ok, well can have Luna back then?" Jessica chuckled holding out her hands.
Trent nods and hands her Luna.

Luna purrs and nuzzles Jessica's chin.
"Do you mind if I sit down?" She inquires while motioning to the couch.
"Not at all, go ahead." Trent replies. He gets his coffee and takes a sip. "Thanks for the coffee."
"You're welcome. Hope it's ok. I tried to remember how you took it." She smiled.
"It's very good." Trent replies softly.

'She'd think I'm crazy if I told her how I felt............' He thought to himself.
Jessica sat there nuzzling Luna to her cheek, her soft fur and content purr was very soothing to her. She was glad she fought through her doubts and came to see Trent. He did seem genuinely happy that she came by. She was watching him while he watched her; he looked like he had something to say, so she blurted out, "You look like you want to say something. Is everything ok?"
"I wanted to talk about your question from last night......." Trent says softly. He needed a question answered....... "Do you think we were destined to meet yesterday?" He blurts out quickly.
"Yes, Trent. I don't believe that anything happens by accident. When I saw you in the park, something drew me to you." Jessica paused, nervous about continuing. "When I looked into your eyes, you seemed very familiar, like I've looked into those eyes before." Jessica was shaking now, a nervous wreck. Surely, he'd think her nuts!
"That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw you." Trent says quietly. "Wow.....now I'm just sounding crazy."
"Really? You felt it too?" Jessica asked, stunned.
Trent nods slowly. "Y-yea....."
"Wow" is a barely audible whisper was all Jessica was able to say.
Trent walks over to the couch and sits down.
Jessica looks at Trent and Luna heads over to Trent's lap.
Trent pets Luna and smiles at Jessica.
Jessica finishes her coffee, feeling a bit awkward, not sure what to say next. Sitting beside Trent near heart starts to race, there’s an undeniable connection between them.
Trent sets his now finished coffee on the table next to him. He couldn't deny it either.....but he didn't want to ruin his only chance....
Jessica got up, picked up Luna who was resting on Trent's chest and said chuckling, "Ok, I'll just kidnap this little kitty and be on my way now."
Trent chuckles and stands up, holding is hands out. "Come on.......hand my kitty over......" He takes Luna and looks at the ceiling. "Shoot.......forgot about that...." There was a mistletoe hanging.
Before Jessica realized what was happening, Trent held her face with his right hand, leaned in and their lips met. She could hear her own heartbeat as the adrenaline was pounding through her veins. It was a simple, but sweet kiss, not a long kiss; but it was magical. Afterward, they looked into each other's eyes and Jessica felt her cheeks flush.
Trent was a blushing mess. He couldn't believe what he just did. "S-sorry Jessica......" He says as he looks down in embarrassment.
"What are you feeling sorry about" she asked him.
"That was.....uncalled for...."
Jessica reached out and touched his arm, gently. "I didn't mind, at all."
"Surprising...." He says softly.
“Why would you say that?” She asked, confused.
"Thought it was a bit too soon..."
Jessica reaches for her coat and says, “Ok. I’m really sorry. I should go.” As she heads to the door she thanks him for letting her play with Luna.
"No problem, you're always welcome here." Trent replies with a smile
“Bye Trent.” She says sadly.

As Jessica walked home she felt confused and conflicted. She couldn’t help like she had done something wrong. She now knew that she couldn’t tell him, she couldn’t tell him that he was the man she had been seeing in her dreams. How would he ever understand? This was one of those times that precognition was a curse.
Trent's smile turns to a frown when she left. "Damn! I was so close to telling her.....but she'd think I'm insane........"
Once Jessica got home she made some lunch and decided to watch tv to distract her from thinking about Trent and Luna. She resigned herself to leaving it all in the hands of destiny. If they were meant to be together, Trent would find her, they’d bump into each other again.
Trent kept a window cracked since he liked a soft breeze. When Trent had his back turned, Luna squeezes though and gets down to the streets. She follows the scent that reminded her of Jessica and runs in the direction of her home.
While watching tv, Jessica falls asleep. When she finally wakes it’s almost 5 pm.
Scratching could be heard at her door.
Jessica turned off the tv and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. As she was walking past the door, she heard a noise. She stopped to listen a moment. It sounded like it was in the hall. She opened the door and there was a little black kitten. "Luna?" Jessica started shaking her head, "This can't be. How in the world did you get here!" She looked Luna right in the eye, fully expecting an explanation.
Luna meows happily at her. She actually liked Jessica. She walks over to her and rubs against her leg.

Trent looked around the apartment for Luna. "Okay, okay......I got an app that's connected to her tag's tracker." He checks the app and his eyes widen. "How did she get that far?!"
"Oh my god", Jessica thought, "he's going to think I stole you!" Then she remembers that Trent was holding Luna when she left.
This can't possibly be Luna! The she checked her collar and sure enough, theres her red sparkly collar with her name on it. Jessica pours a super of water for Luna and tries to figure out what to do next.
After about 25 minutes, A knock could be heard at the door.
Jessica picks up Luna and and they go answer the door. When she opens the door her jaw drops, it's Trent!
"Trent! How? What?" Jessica was so flustered... "Sorry, please come in."
"Thanks..." Trent steps inside and looks around. "Nice place."
"Thank you, please have a seat. Can I get you a coffee, or something to drink?" Jessica says while she's wondering why he staring at her like this, with that grin? He probably;y thinks I stole his cat.

"I was just making a pot of coffee, when I heard a little scratch at the door." she tells him while handing Luna to her rightful owner.
Trent takes Luna and has a seat. "I'm good, thanks........this is getting weird....Luna never did this before."

Luna meows and nuzzles him, after looking at Jessica.
"I was afraid you'd think I 'kitty-napped' her! I couldn't believe it was her when I opened the door." she said while heading to the kitchen for coffee.
"I'd never think that." Trent replies. He pets Luna softly.

"are you sure you don't want coffee? I'm having some and it's ready?" Jessica peeks around the corner to ask Trent.
"Know what, I'll have some actually." Trent nods.

Luna jumps from his lap and runs over to Jessica.
"Hello Luna, you nutty kitty." Jessicas says as she picks up Luna and nuzzles her to her cheek.

Trent could hear the sounds of a cup of coffee being made; the the spoon as it hits the sides go the mug as she stirred, the refrigerator door opening and closing, the spoon being dropped in the sink.

Jessica walked into the living room with Luna in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other. "Here you go, coffee for you." she said handing Trent the mug.

Jessica went back into the kitchen to retrieve the cup she had made herself When she returned she sat in the chair across from Trent, Luna made herself comfy in her Jessica's lap. "So, Trent, how did you find us?"
"I'll be frank with you Jessica....I have a tracking device on Luna's collar....just in case something happened. I used my phone to locate her.....which led me here..." Trent explains.
"Oh, ok. That makes sense. Very clever too." Jessica nodded
"Thanks............." Trent replies. His blush never faded for when he arrived. "Can I ask you a question Jessica?"
“Yes, of course.” She replied setting her mug down.
"Do you...........think the chain of events that's been going on since yesterday mean something........about us?" Trent asks. "No matter who leaves the other, we always somehow meet back up before long."
Jessica closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. "Yes, I think they do. There's something I've been struggling with telling you as well. But I'm afraid you'll think I'm a ding-bat."
"Jessica......I'm not going to be one of those people that just say that you can tell me anything without being judged.....because you already know that I won't judge you, of think that you lost it......so please, I'd like to know what it is you've been wanting to say."
"Ok, Trent. But I'm going to need a glass of wine first. Would you like one? Never mind, I'm bringing you one." Jessica says as she heads to the kitchen. Trent gets up, toting Luna, and follows her. Trent hands Luna to Jessica and takes the bottle from her and begins opening it, while she turns and reaches for two glasses from the cupboard. She instinctively reaches for the clear stemless glasses she uses as "everyday', but puts them back, opting for the tall, blue, crystal goblets. She thinks to herself, "this could turn into something beautiful, lets start it with pretty glasses."

Trent was able to easily open the bottle. "It's open Jessica." He looks at the goblets. "Wow......those are beautiful goblets."
"Thank you" she says softly.
Jessica starts pacing in the kitchen while she thinking how she's going to explain what's on her mind. She hears Luna purring and it soothes her nerves.
"Trent, just remember, you asked. Ok?" Trent nods in agreement while offering his glass for a toast. Jessica brings her glass to Trent's and a faint *cling* could be heard. "Let's go sit down, shall we?"

"I have this 'thing' where I have dreams, I can see things that are going to happen in my life or people that I am close to. As soon as I moved to New York, I started having a dream. I had it every night for the first month, after I met you in the park, it stopped." she stopped and took a deep breath.

"When I saw your face, that day in the park, it was the same face I saw in my dreams. Then I understood why I was drawn to you that day, to ask you about a restaurant." Jessica then took a big sip of wine. There, she said it.
"Quick question.....why do you think I was in these dreams?" Trent asks, curious.
"This is going to sound weird, ok? But, I think we were destined to meet." Jessica concedes reluctantly.
"To be honest, I agree with you."
"You do? Really?" Jessica said stunned.
Trent nods. "I've been seeing you in my dreams too........"
"That's remarkable, Trent. Are you serious? You're not playing with me are you?" Jessica looks him right in the eye.
"I swear I'm not playing with you......I thought you were beautiful the first time I saw you."
"Thank you, Trent. I think you are handsome too." she replied.
Luna was fast asleep in Jessica's lap, things seemed cozy and now she had finally told him what had been on her mind. Maybe things would finally work out for her.
"Jessica......I have something I need to admit too..."
Jessica got up from thew couch and asked, "Wwwhat? What do you want to tell me?"
"Ever since I saw you in the dreams......I've......been developing a crush on you." Trent admits in a quiet voice.
"Trent, oh that's so sweet. And I have actually been feeling the same way. I've not been able to get you off my mind." Jessica pour more wine for them both.

"When I left your place today, I really didn't think I'd see you again. And then little Luna shows up at my door. I've never hears of a cat do that!"
Jessica sits down and rambles on and on out of nerves.
After a while of listening to Jessica, Trent finally gathered the courage to walk over to her and kiss her again.
Trent bent down to where Jessica was sitting, and mid-sentence he kissed her... the kiss was small, gentle, but meaningful. The caress of his lips seemed felt soft. Then he took her face in his hands and kissed her forehead and smiled at her. Trent then sat back down and Jessica said, "That's one way to shut me up." and they laughed and fell into each others arms.
Trent chuckles and smiles at Jessica. He felt so much better admitting his feelings. "I love the sound of you're voice though.."
"Thank you." Jessica said then kissed his cheek.
"Are you getting hungry? I was planning to make Shrimp Scampi."
Trent blushes and nods. "I am."
"Perfect. Want to help or sit here and watch TV?" She asked as she rose.

"You're awfully cute when you blush, Trent."
"I'm not much of a cook....is it alright if I cuddle with Luna?" Trent asks.
“ Here’s the remote. I’ll be in the kitchen.” Jessica reached down to pet Luna then took her glass of wine and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Trent pets Luna and cuddles with her. "Thanks Jessica!"
In the kitchen, Jessica gathers the ingredients and pots she’ll need to prepare dinner. For a moment she stops and wonders if she’d made a big mistake.
Trent watches TV and thinks about this.......was he willing to actually try to date her based on a few dreams....?

'Yes I will.....' He thought to himself. 'Believe it or not, I love her.'
Dinner was under way, Jessica was just waiting on the pasta to finish cooking and she started to set the table.
Trent smelt the food, making his mouth water. He calls over to Jessica. "It smells really good Jessica!"
"Thank you" Jessica replied. "would you mind giving me a hand with the table?" she asked.
"I don't mind at all!" Trent replies happily. He stands up and goes to help her set the table up.
"Thank you, Trent. I just need to finish this salad and we'll be all set. I hope you are hungry!" Jessica laughed.
Trent chuckles softly. "Yes I am Jessica." He smiles at her. It was so exciting to have a girlfriend.
"Dinner is served!" Jessica set the serving trays on the table: Shrimp Scampi with linguini, tossed garden salad, garlic bread and a bottle of white wine. She also had glasses of water with fresh lime slices for them. Luna was meowing from the smell of the shrimp and Jessica was glad that she boiled a couple shrimp on the side for Luna too. Jessica couldn't help but thinking that this was their first dinner together as a family. Trent, Luna and herself.
Trent smiles and sits at the table, ready to eat. He looks into Jessica's eyes and gets lost in them. He loved her and would do anything to stay with her.
“ Everything ok?” She inquires.
"Everything is fine......it's just.......easy to get lost in those pretty eyes."
Jessica blushed and smiled at Trent. "How's the pasta? I hope you like it, I tend to go a little heavy on the garlic."
Trent smiles at her. "It's amazing." He replies as he ate
"Well, this has turned out to be a rather interesting day, to say the least." she says to Trent.
"Agreed.....and I think we owe a thank you to someone."
"mmm, yes indeed. That's why she got 3 shrimp all for herself!" Jessica said while reaching down to pat Luna while she happily nibbled on her shrimp feast.
Trent chuckles as he watched Luna. "I taught her to not gulp her food down."
"She really is a special kitty." Then Jessica looked into Trent's eyes and said, "you are special too."
Trent blushes darkly and chuckles. "I'm not special Jessica."
They finished dinner and cleared the table together. Trent said he'd wash the dishes since he can't cook and Jessica let him do it while she packaged the left overs and finished putting everything away. Before long the kitchen was clean and they were done.

"Should I make some coffee?" Jessica offered.
Trent nods. "Coffee sounds great right now." He replies softly.

Luna licks her lips as she finishes her shrimp.
Jessica brings two mugs of coffee and sets them down on the coffee table. "I'm sorry I don't have any dessert to offer you." she says as she sits down.
Trent takes a cup and smiles. "I don't mind, dinner stuffed me. It was very delicious." Trent replies.
"Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it." Jessica says just as Luna jumped on her lap, crawls up her shirt and nuzzles her neck.
Laughing she says, "I guess someone else liked their dinner too."
Luna meows happily at Jessica. She touches her nose to her's.

Trent chuckles at this as he enjoys his coffee.
Jessica, Trent, and Luna enjoy a quiet evening, getting to know each other a bit more.
Eventually, Trent finally said what he wanted to say. "J-Jessica..............I........I love you."
Jessica's eyes become saucers as she slowly sets her mug down on the table. She swallows hard and says, "Trent, you don't even know all my bad habits yet. I cry at tv commercials, I hate crowds, I could go on and on. Don't tell me you love me until you are sure."
Trent was sure. "I am...."
Jessica got up from the chair and sat beside Trent on the couch, she leaned over, kissed his cheek and said, "I think I'm falling in love with you too."
Trent's blush darkens. "That's good..." But he took it further and kissed her lips
He wraps his arms around her waist as he deepens the kiss
As they kissed, Luna jumped on onto Trent's lap and started meowing. She kept trying to nuzzle her way between them.
Jessica stopped and picked up Luna, they were nose-to-nose and she asked her, "What the matter Luna? Do you need something?"

After a moment, Jessica turned to Trent and announced that, "Luna needs her litter box."

Trent laughed as said, "Luna told you that?"

"Yes, she did." Jessica said very matter of factly and handed Luna to Trent.
"I'll take her home then. Have a good night Jessica." Trent replies as he goes to the door with Luna.
"Until next time then. Be careful." she said as she walked him to the door.
Trent pecks her lips. "I always am."
Jessica closed the door behind him and wondered what surprises would come to her next. She grabbed her book, got comfortable on the couch and tried to read. After reading the same line several times, she realized that she was too distracted. Her thoughts drifting to Trent. Eventually she dozed off right there on the couch.
Trent gets Luna home to her litter box. He gives her privacy and picks out a book to read. "I feel like reading a romance tonight." He says to himself. His thoughts went to Jessica........to him if felt like a romance novel. "Heh.....wonder if that'd be a good idea...." He chuckles to himself. "Nah.....she wouldn't allow it."
The next morning Jessica was jarred awake by her phone ringing, just before seven. For a moment she was disoriented and her neck hurt from spending the night on the couch.

She grabbed her phone, started toward the kitchen for coffee and aspirin and answered, "Hello."
Trent was still sleeping, but after a moment Luna jumps on him and wakes him.
"Jess? You sound hoarse, are you okay?" her brother asked.

"Jason, it's barely seven! You woke me up. What's going on?"

"Nothing is going on. Can't a brother call his sister at seven in the morning without raising suspicion?"

"I know you better than that Jason. Is everything ok?'

"I'm coming to see you. Tonight. Is that ok?"

"Yes! Yes! That's great news! What time will you be here?" Jessica nearly dropped her coffee she was so thrilled.

"My flight arrives at 7:05 P.M. I'll grab a taxi and see you tonight."

"Awesome! See you tonight!"

It's been a long year since Jessica had seen her brother Jason and she was thrilled!
Trent laughs and grabs Luna, carrying her over to the kitchen. He gives her some leftover fish from 2 nights ago and gets himself some coffee. He thinks about Jessica, but the thoughts fade as he thought he messed up. "I was too forward with her......maybe she just said what she said to not break my heart....." He says to himself softly.
Jessica finished her coffee and thought about calling Trent, but changed her mind. She thought it might be too early yet and decided to jump in the shower first. She missed Trent, and wanted to tell him. She also wants to invite him over tonight to meet her brother.
Trent sits on the couch with Luna and watches TV with her.
After Jessica's shower, she gets dressed, grabs her phone and goes to sit on the fire escape to call Trent. She pulls his name up in her contacts, hits 'call' and waits for him to answer.
Trent was enjoying a comedy until his phone started ringing. He takes it out of his pocket and looks at the caller. 'Jessica' He quickly answers it. "Hello?"
"Hi Trent. It's Jessica. Did I catch you at a bad time?"
"No, you didn't." Trent replies happily. "Someone wants to say something." He puts the phone to Luna who meows into it.
"Awww, little Luna! I miss you too kitty!" Jessica giggles and Trent gets back on the phone.

"That's so sweet Trent. Are you and Luna free tonight, by chance?"
"Why yes we are. Why do you ask?"
"Well, my brother called this morning. He's coming to town and will be here tonight. I am making dinner and wanted to know if you'd like to join us?"
"I'd love to, but let me check with Luna." Trent chuckles. "Wanna join Jessica for dinner tonight?"

Luna meows happily.

"We'll be there!"
"You're too funny, Trent. 7:30 ok?" Jessica says still giggling.
"Sounds good. See you at 7:30"
Jessica hung up and grabbed her coat, she had to run to the market and pick up a fewer things she would need for dinner, grab a bottle of wine, and flowers. Jessica was walked like she was floating, humming happily to herself while on her errands.
Trent sighs to himself. 'I need to calm down.......maybe she does actually love me.....' He thinks to himself.
By the time Jessica returned home it was 3pm. She tidied up a little and started preparing dinner. She got her iPod and listened to music while she cooked, singing along happily to herself. She found her thoughts always turning to Trent.
Throughout the day, Trent watch YouTube videos and played a few games. He looked at the time and sighs again. "So slow...." He kept thinking about Jessica......
Jessica wanted to call Trent, to ask him to come by before 7:30. She really wanted to see him. She struggled trying to find an excuse to call him again and kept talking herself out of it.
Trent was actually the one to call her since Luna wouldn't stop meowing ever since she first called. He practically begged her to answer the phone.
"Hi Trent" Jessica giggled. "I was just thinking about calling you too. Everything ok?"
"I don't even need to answer that......listen to this..." He let's Luna meow into the phone. "She won't stop ever since you invited us."
"She's adorable. Well, I was going to call you to see if you wanted to come by now, or whenever." Jessica said quietly.
"I'd love to...we're on our way." Trent replies softly. ".....................loveyou......"
"Oh baby, I can't wait to see you.", Jessica smiles as she sets the phone down.
"I can't wait either dear..." Trent sets the phone on the desk
Jessica continues working in the kitchen, excited about Jason meeting Trent. And really excited that Trent would be here soon.
Trent grabs Luna, her travel kit that included a small litter box and other things she would need. He grabs a bottle of Ace of Spades Champagne. He was saving it for a special moment and this was perfect. He sends a quick text to Jessica. 'Just so you know, I'll be bringing a bottle of Ace of Spades Champagne for this special occasion! I'll tell you the crazy price I paid for this later, see you soon!'
Jessica's phone beeped alerting her she had a message. After she read it, she smiled and shook her head. Champagne sounded nice, she was feeling like celebrating many things lately, but that stuff is expensive. Trent would have to eventually find out the truth about Jessica, hopefully it wouldn't scare him away.
Like last time, it takes him 25 minutes to arrive at her door. He knocks while Luna scratches at the door. Teamwork!
Jessica practically ran to the door when she heard the knock. She opened the door with a big smile and threw her arms around Trent's neck and whispered, "I'm so glad you're here".
Trent chuckles and wraps his arms the best he could with the bottle. "Is that so?" He asks.
"yes, that IS so." She gives him a quick kiss and bends down to pick up Luna.
"I'm so glad you're here too, my little Luna!" she said cuddling her.
Luna meows happily at her

Trent blushes softly and sets the bottle down on the counter.
“Ca I get you something to drink Trent?” Jessica asks while putting the champagne in the refrigerator.
"Got some coffee ready?" Trent asks.
"No, but it only takes a minute to whip some up, and that sounds like a great idea." she said as she got the coffee going.

"So, tell me, what have you two been up to today?" Jessica leaned against the counter, crossing her arms.
"Nothing much......relaxing...missing you....." Trent says softly.
Jessica smiled then took Trent's face in both her hands, kissed him gently and while looking in his eyes said, "I missed you too. I'm glad you're here."
Trent's cheeks turn red as a smile comes back onto his face. "I'm happy to be here Jessica."
"Good! Do you think you could help me peeling potatoes?" she asked as she pulled the sack out of the basket.

Chuckling, she nudged Trent in look in Luna's direction. Luna was curled up into a little black ball on top of the white throw on the couch, sleeping and content.
Trent looked at Luna and chuckles. "Aww....she's adorable..." He looks back at Jessica and nods. "I'd love to help."
Jessica and Trent laughed and chatted as they made food preparations. The time flew by and they were growing closer as they shared stories of their past with each other.
"I had a terrible date once.....wanna hear about it?" Trent asks, having a good one
“Sure, why not?” Jessica laughed.
Trent goes into detail on how he went on a date with a friend's sister. It was to sum it up.......weird, awkward and just a waste of time.
“I can imagine. I don’t think I’d want to date a friend’s brother. If the relationship doesn’t work out, you risk losing the friendship too. “ Jessica offered.
Trent nods. "True.........but I think this one could work out." He points out
"Which one?", Jessica paused. "Oh, you mean us...yes, I agree. Well, I hope so." she said blushing.
Trent softly kisses her cheek. "I can't wait to meet your brother." He says excited.
"I'm glad to hear that. I was afraid you wouldn't come when I told you my brother would be here." she said.
"I'm always happy to be here for you Jessica." Trent replies, looking into her eyes. "It's exciting to meet someone related to you." He adds
Jessica giggled saying, "Let's see if you still feel that way tomorrow. Jason is likely to give you the third degree."
Trent chuckles. "I'm a people person." He shrugs
"Well, I think I'm done in here for a bit. I'll just wash these dishes and then we can sit and relax a little before Jason gets here." Jessica said.
"More coffee?" she asked while approaching him with the coffee carafe.
Trent nods. "I'd love more coffee." He replies with a smile.
After she refills his cup she leans in to kiss him gently. "Thank you for all your help."
Trent kisses back softly. "No problem."
"Where's Luna? She's not in her spot." Jessica says.
Luna was sitting in Jessica's seat
"Silly kitty, you're just going to have to wait until I wash dishes, then I'll hold you." Jessica says to Luna.

"Oh Trent, look in that bag on the chair over there." she said gesturing to the chair near the window. "I bought Luna a couple little toys today."
Trent nods and walks over to the chair. He looks through the bag and smiles. "Thanks Jessica.....she loves toys."
"Ok. Time to relax." Jessica leans over and picks Luna up off of the chair and sits next to Trent.
Trent sits down and leans on Jessica.
"I like this." Jessica said under her breath, to herself.
'I love this...............and her' Trent thought to himself. He looks over at Jessica and smiles.
"I didn't realize how tired I was until this moment, sitting down relaxing." Jessica cuddled a little closer. "I could fall asleep like this."
"So can I." Trent yawns in agreement.
Jessica's mind was working though... she was reviewing the menu in her mind to make sure she had not forgotten anything. She was very excited to see Jason again, it had been 6 months since their last visit and they've always been close. She had not told Jason that she met Trent and he may be surprised when he meets him. Jason still worried about her; that's the big brother's job. Jason worried that she'd be safe here in New York, but at least she was far away from the monster.
Trent pets Luna happily. But he had a weird feeling "Jessica...................why does it feel like your keeping something from me?"
Jessica sat up and turned to Trent. "We've only just met Trent. There's a lot of things you don't know about me, just like there's a lot I don't know about you too. Right?"
"Fair point......but.....something feels........off." Trent says softly.
"We have time, right?" Jessica looked a little worried. "There's things that have happened. I'm just not ready to talk about them with you yet."
Her eyes started to swell with tears so she got up and went to the kitchen, trying to make herself look busy.
Trent sighs to himself. "Okay Jessica......I'm sorry I made you upset...."

Luna got worried and ran after Jessica.
Jessica looked down to find Luna climbing up her pant leg, it made her laugh. "Oh Luna. What ever are you doing?" Jessica cuddled her against her face.
Luna meows at her in worry. 'Something wrong?'
"Something's wrong with Luna, you mean?" she asks concerned.
Trent wasn't talking.....

Luna looks at her, expecting an answer.
Jessica cuddles Luna a little closer and whispers on her ear, "Shhh, we can't let him know just yet that we can communicate. Luna, you know what's wrong - just look in my eyes."

'I'm a cat......not a physic.'
Jessica carried Luna to Trent, set her in his lap, and walked back to the kitchen without saying a word. Muttering under her breath, “ I’ve lost my damn mind.”
Trent looks at Luna.

Luna just lays down quietly.
Jessica walked to the kitchen window and just stared out at nothing. Her mind was racing and she was getting scared again. She felt like her world could cave in on her at any moment.
Trent just sits there and pets Luna.

Luna doesn't even purr......she was worried about Jessica.
Jessica decided, it was now or never. She straightened herself out and walked into he family room. She sat in the chair across from Trent , cleared her throat and said, "I came to New York six months ago to escape an abusive relationship. I work from home because I don't like being out in the crowds. I'm afraid every day that he'll find me."

Jessica blurted it all out. She was pale and dizzy now. In some ways she was relieved that Trent now knows, but she was also afraid that it would be too much for him to bare.

Before she even realized what was going on, Luna was in her lap again.
Luna gives her the look that says. 'You did the right thing..'

Trent just stares at her and attempts to process what she just said.

"W-wow....."
Jessica starts pacing with Luna in her arms. "See, this is why I didn't want to tell you. You probably want to leave now. I understand."
She walks over to Trent and starts to hand him Luna, and Luna is resisting.
Trent declines Luna and looks her dead in the eyes. "I'm not leaving."
"You're not?" Jessica looks stunned and Luna climbs up to cuddle near Jessica's neck.
Trent shakes his head. "Nope.......I was in one of those too...." He lifts up his shirt and shows a scar on his chest.
Jessica gasps and tears fill her eyes. She lifts her hand and softly places it on Trent's chest. "I'm so sorry."
"Don't be.........." Trent says softly. He leans over and kisses her
She kissed him back and says, "I'm sorry because I know this pain goes beyond the flesh. I know where this pain resides."
Trent nods.
"So we understand each other." she said quietly.
"Yep......" Trent goes back to his seat
Jessica goes to sit next to Trent.
Trent looks at her and smiles
"I'm starting to get the feeling that we just might be stuck with each other." Jessica chuckles a little.
"I like that idea." Trent replies
Jessica gave a quick kiss to Trent, and got up announcing she was going to go wash her face. It was nearly time for Jason to arrive and she had a few things to do, finalizing her dinner preparations.
Trent nods. "Luna and I will be here if you need us dear."
Jessica was in the kitchen with her hands a mess making salad when the knock on the door came.

"Trent, my hands are dirty, please answer the door." she called out to him.
"Will do!" Trent replies. He picks up Luna, goes over to the door, and opens it.
Standing there, with a suitcase, flowers, and wine was Jason.

Jason said, "Is Jessica here?", as he looked quizzically at Trent.
"You must be Jason." Trent replies with a smile. "Yea, she's here." He steps out of the way.
"Jason!" Jessica yells as she runs from the kitchen wiping her hands.

They exchange a big hug, and Jason hands her the flowers and wine. "Thank you, these are great. And this is Trent, my um friend. Trent, this is Jason, my brother. I'm going to get a vase for these flowers, you two get acquainted, ok."

Jason sets his suitcase in the corner, turns and says, "How's it going, Trent?"
"Pretty good, how about you?"

Luna meows at Jason.
"I'm alright. Tired, long day." Jason reaches over to pet Luna. "When did Jess get a kitten? She's a cutie."
Luna purrs and rubs against his hand.

"Actually, Luna here is my kitten."
"Oh, ok. So, you know my sister very long?" Jason wasn't going to waste any time, he was very protective of his sister and didn't want her getting hurt again. He vowed to do whatever needed to be done to see that she stays safe, including moving to New York to be near her.
"A few days..." Trent admits.
"So you're just friends, then; right?" Jason asks.

"Hey, you boys ready for a glass of wine?" Jessica calls from the kitchen.
Luna interrupts their conversation by jumping into Jason's arms

"I'd love one!" Trent replies.
“Whoa, Cat. Spunky little thing.” Jason muttered. “Jess, I’ll take one too. Need help?”

“No thanks Jason, be there in a sec.” Jessica popped the wine, grabbed the wine glasses and set them on a tray with a plate of appetizers.
Luna glares at Jason.

Trent felt bad for not telling the truth, but he didn't think that Jason would understand.
“Trent, can you grab this, quick!” Jessica was struggling with the heavy tray.
Trent nods and rushes over to her, grabbing the tray from her and holding it with one hand like a waiter.
“Thanks, was heavier than I thought.” Jessica chuckled.

“You’ve met Luna too, huh?” Jessica reaches over to rub her head .
"No problem." Trent replies with a smile.

Luna purrs and looks at Jessica.
Jessica pour three glasses of wine handing both Jason and Trent a glass.

“Cheers, gentlemen.”
"Cheers."

Luna jumps out of Jason's arms.
“Jess, you made my favorite, stuffed mushrooms. Awesome as usual.” Jason said between bites.

“Slow down Jason, I made dinner too.” Jessica laughed.

Luna climbed up into Jessica’s lap, curled into a little ball and promptly fell asleep.
Trent eats a little bit......but was scared of Jason. He didn't dare to look him in the eye.
“Where did you two meet, Trent?” Jason asks.
"Central Park."
"Ill be right back, I need to check the roast in the oven." Jessica excuses herself. Then from the kitchen says, "Oh Trent, tell Jason about that Italian place we went to, we should all go there. It was great."
Luna follows Jessica. 'You need to tell Jason everything.'

"Ah, yes. Carmine's Italian Restaurant. They had amazing food and wine. We spent a bit of time in there." Trent says happily
Jessica reaches down and picks up Luna. As she holds Luna against her cheek, she whispers to her, "Tell Jason what? That Trent is my boyfriend? Is he my boyfriend? I don't even know! We haven't even discussed that!"

Jessica peeks around the corner and quietly watches Jason and Trent chatting, they seem to be getting along and she was happy about that.
'He is!' Luna replies instantly. 'You two love each other, for heavens sake you two kiss a lot!'
"Oh Luna. You're too smart for such a little kitty." Jessica chuckles. "Ok, when the time is right, I will tell him, ok?"

Jessica and Luna returned to the living room and Trent and Jason were laughing. "What's so funny, guys?"
"Just telling Jason here about a moron at work." Trent chuckles.
"More wine? Dinner in about 5, ok guys?" Jessicas says, pouring more wine.
"Wine sounds great. And thanks Jessica."

Luna looks at Jessica.
Jessica heads to the kitchen and starts to set the table. Luna follows here every step, meowing. A couple of times she nearly fell while trying to avoid stepping on Luna. Finally frustrated, Jessica calls for Trent to come to the kitchen. She picks up Luna hands her to Trent and after a big sigh asks him, "Are you my boyfriend? Luna won't drop it. I need to know?"
Trent blushes softly. "Well......I like to think of myself as your boyfriend.......but really that's up to you."
Jessica throws her arms around Trent and they both laugh. Just then Jason walks into the kitchen and says, "I was going to see if you needed more help, but looks like you two are all set."

Jessica blushes and laughs. "Well, Jason, you can put these plates on the table while my boyfriend takes the roast out of the oven, please."

"Boyfriend, huh? Sounds good." Jason leans over, gives Jessica a kiss on the cheek and says, "I just want you happy and safe, sis."

Trent chuckles and takes the roast out of the oven.

Luna jumps around happily.
As the trio gets the all the food on the table, Jessica looks over to Luna sitting beside her bowl and staring at her. Jessica laughs "It looks like I've already spoiled Luna."

Jessica grabs Luna's bowl then cuts a lean piece off of the pork roast and begins shredding and blowing on it for Luna, placing it in her dish. She sets the bowl down, washes her hands and joins Trent and Jason at the table.
Trent was pouring the champagne that he brought. He was just finishing up with Jessica's as she walked in. "Ah, perfect timing."
"How nice! Thank you!" Jessica takes her set.

"What are we celebrating," Jason asks, "with such expensive champagne?"
"Jason, we are celebrating you! It's probably been a long time since Jessica saw you.....I guessed that it would be appropriate to use this champagne." Trent explains. "If this never happened, I would have saved this bottle for another occasion."
"That's nice of you Trent, thanks." Jason says, then he raises his glass and says, "To Jess, for a great meal and best sister, ever."

"I'm your only sister, Jason." the all laugh and as they tap glasses and drink.
Trent takes a sip and smiles.
The trio enjoyed their dinner, and chatted endlessly. Everything was going great and both Jason and Trent were feeling much more comfortable with each other. Luna finished her roast and was sitting on the floor at Jessica's feet.
Trent finishes his meal and looked at the time. "I should get going...."
"Before dessert?" Jessica looks at Trent disappointed.
"I'm sorry Jessica, but today is my last day of my vacation......I have work early in the morning.......Luna can stay if she wants to though."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that. Well, can I pack some left-overs for you? For your lunch tomorrow?" Jessica offers.
"I'd love that." Trent accepts
Jessica brings Trent a bag with his lunch for tomorrow and she's carrying Luna in the other arm. Trent says goodbye to Jason and Jessica walks him to the door.

"I'm keeping Luna tonight, that way you'll come back." she tells him with a kiss to the cheek.
"Sounds good dear. Love you." Trent kisses her forehead softly.
"Love you back, baby." Jessica smiled.

As she shut the door she heard a deep guttural sound, turning around she found Jason completely passed out and snoring on the couch. She knew he was tired but didn't expect him to fall asleep so quick. Jessica laid a blanket over him and said to Luna, "I guess it's you and me on clean up duty."
Luna looks at Jessica like she was crazy.
As Jessica cleaned up the kitchen, she fed little bits of roast to Luna and chatted to her non-stop, more like thinking out loud. She wondered about Trent and hoped he was comfortable tonight; everything seemed to go well. Jason, of course, won't be shy about saying how he feels, after he's rested up.

After Jessica was finished cleaning the kitchen, she scooped up Luna and her cell phone and got ready for bed.
Luna licks Jessica's cheek happily. 'Love ya Jessica.'
"Oh Luna, I love you too kitty." Jessica said checking her phone for any messages one last time before dozing off.
Luna curls up to Jessica and falls asleep.
The next morning Jessica is awoken by Luna licking her nose.
"Oh Luna, ok, I'm getting up and will get you your breakfast."

Jessica gets up, washes her face and makes her way to the kitchen to find a bag of muffins and a note from Jason.

I'm out an appointment, will be out all day. See you at dinner. -J

Jessica starts the coffee and checks her phone. Still no word from Trent. It would have been nice to have found a message from him.
Luna looks at Jessica. 'Any word from dad?'
Jessica sighs, "no Luna, nothing"
'I'm getting worried...'
"Me too. Maybe he's upset with me. Maybe it was too soon to introduce him to Jason." Jessica said while cuddling Luna.
After a few minutes, Trent calls her
As the phone rings Luna starts snuggling against Jessica's cheek.

Jessica answers the phone without first looking to see who's calling, "Hello."
"Hey Jessica........we got a problem....."
"Trent, what's wrong? Are you okay? Where are you? Jessica's heart started beating faster.
"I'm in the Emergency Room right now........with a bullet in my chest....."
Jessica started shaking and crying. "Where are you? I'm coming now!"
"Mount Sinai Beth Israel Emergency Room" Trent replies softly
Jessica grabs her shoes, purse, and jacket and rushes out the door, leaving Luna behind.

She starts running in the direction of 16th Street as though a force is pulling her there, tears streaming down her face.
Trent hangs up and waits.
She finally arrives and approaches the information desk, asking for Trent.

The receptionist picks up the phone and speaks to someone while keeping her eyes on Jessica.
She tells Jessica to have a seat and someone will be out in a moment to help her.

"You don't understand! I need to see him now!" Jessica starts raising her voice.
Trent presses the button to request a nurse.
As Jessica is arguing with the receptionist an doctor starts walking toward her.

"Are you Jessica McDonnell?" the man asks.

"Yes, I am. I need to see Trent," Jessica say, her eyes filled with tears.

"You're going to need to calm down first. We can't have you in there hysterical, we are trying to regulate his blood pressure before we take him up to surgery."

"Is he going to be ok?" she whispers.

"Yes, he will be fine. He was hit in the shoulder and the bullet went right through. There's some muscle damage, but I think he will make a complete recovery."

"Ok, please, I really need to see him now."

"Follow me and remember to stay calm." the doctor instructed.
Trent sighs to himself and looks at the clock.

Luna pulled her antic again but accidentally bumps into Jessica's leg.
"Oh my goodness, Luna. How did you get in here?" Jessica places Luna in her purse to hide her from the nurses.
'I needed to see what the hell was going on.....you started crying and you practically ran out the door.'
"Don't use that language with me, Luna! Now be quiet and get in there or they will throw us both out!" Jessica reprimanded.
Luna obeyed and sank her body out of sight.
Jessica followed the doctor into the room and found Trent staring out the window. He looked pale and helpless and she had to fight back the tears.
She assured the doctor she was calm and so he left.

When their eyes met Trent forced a smile, she could see he was in pain as she leaned over to kiss him. Jessica carefully placed her purse on the bed beside Trent and Luna popped out her head to see Trent for herself.

"Baby, can you tell me what happened?" Jessica whispered.
"It was just a normal day.......people getting engagement rings, necklaces and all that. Then, a group of four walked in with handguns.....3 men and one women.......before I could draw my weapon, I got shot......needless to say, I lost my job.........."
"Oh my god, that must have been so ...wait, what do you mean you lost your job?!" she asked puzzled.
"The Doctors say I won't be shooting straight again based on where I was shot.......so I was fired when my employers got my report."
"Trent, that's absurd. They can't fire you for that." Jessica caught herself and then added, "I really don't think I like the idea of you doing that job anyway, look at you! You've been shoot!" Tears started to well up in her eyes and Luna climbed out of the purse and cuddled by Trent's neck.
Trent leans over and kisses her lips.
"I love you, but stop trying to move." Jessica tells him after returning the kiss.

Just then a nurse walked in and announced it was time for him to be taken to the surgery floor. Jessica quickly grabbed Luna and hid her under her jacket.

"I'll be waiting here for you in the recovery room, love. Everything is going to be fine." Jessica reassured him.
Suddenly, Trent's BPM increased. He gasps for breath blood started to bleed through the bandage that was on the wound
Jessica had no idea what was going on, the nurse rushed Trent out of the room and was calling for the doctor. Another nurse cam in and told Jessica to stay in the room and they would bring her up to the Recovery Room when it was time.
After a few hours, the surgery was completed. Trent was stabilized, and was ready to have visitors.
Jessica watched Trent as he slept, a tear ran down her cheek. She realized at this moment how much she loved him.
The Dr. looks at her. "He'll be out for a while......you're welcome to stay and wait for him if you wish."
"Thank you doctor. Yes, I'm going to wait here. I need to be here when he wakes." Jessica said as she wiped her tears away.

As the doctor was leaving, Jason was shown in by the nurse.

"Jess, what happened? I got here as soon as I could."

"Jason, lower your voice, he's still sleeping. He was shot at work during a robbery attempt." Jessica whispered with tear filled eyes.

After 2 and a half hours, Trent finally wakes.
"Hey, Sleeping Beauty is awake. How you feeling buddy?" Jason asks Trent.

Trent trying to focus sees Jessica sleeping beside him, her head resting on the bed. He reaches out to stroke her hair awakening her.

"You're awake! How do you feel?" she kisses the back of his hand.
"I feel much better.....thanks." Trent replies with a smile. "And thank you both for being here."
Upon hearing Trent's voice, Luna starts peeking out of Jessica's purse where she had been napping too.

Jessica pulls her out and sets Luna beside Trent, she starts purring immediately and cuddles beside him.

"Damn, Jess! You snuck that cat in here?" Jason laughs.

"No, Jason. She followed me here. I think Luna is more bloodhound than cat, honestly."
Trent smiles and pets Luna. "You all mean a lot to me...."
"You need to rest so that we can get you home. Are you in any pain? Do I need to get the nurse? Jessica asked.
"No. They have me on painkillers right now." Trent replies. "Can I ask you a question Jessica?"
"Of course, Trent. What is it?" Jessica responds.
"Why would you go through all this stress and trouble...................for me?"
"Well, I love you." Jessica replied matter of factly.
"I love you too." He replies with a smile.
"You need to rest and I need a shower. It's been long day. I'll be back in a couple of hours, ok?'

Jason chimes in, "See you later buddy. Feel better."
"Okay dear....." Trent nods and looks at Jason. "Thanks Jason.....see you later."
Jessica scooped up Luna and tucked her in her purse, gave a kiss to Trent and they were heading home.

Once outside, Jason hailed a cab. No sooner had they got into the cab, Jessica started crying.

"Jess, he's going to be okay. The doctor told us, he's fine." Jason put his arm around his sister and tried to comfort her. Within a few minutes she fell asleep from the mental exhaustion of the day.
Trent had a hard time falling asleep, but eventually he was able to.
Once home Jessica took a shower while Jason made salads for them.

As they were eating Jason looked at Jessica and said, "You really love this dude, huh?"

"Yes, Jason. There's something about him. I can't explain it." she said as she started paling with her salad.

"You going back to the hospital tonight?"

"Yes, after I clean up the dishes. Do you mind coming with me? I don't want to be out at night alone, not comfortable with that just yet."

"Jess, you should know better than to ask. I wasn't planning to let you go alone." Jason said as he winked at her.
He dreams about being in a fire, raising his BPM
As Jessica nad Jason walked into Trent's room, the nurse was there giving him medicine through his IV.

"Excuse me, is everything ok?" Jessica questioned the nurse.

"Yes, his blood pressure has been a little elevated, so we are just trying to get it back to a normal range." the nurse replies.

"He's ok though, right?"

"Yes, it's normal after surgery. He's going to be fine."

Trent started to blink and wake up at the sound go Jessica's voice. She quickly went to his side and reached for his hand. As soon as the nurse left Jason announced he was going to the cafeteria to get coffee for Jessica and himself.
Trent grabs her hand and smiles. "Hey luv."
"How are you feeling, baby?" Jessica asks.
"Better....I guess." Trent shrugs. "I'll be here for a while they said."
"Yes, I imagine so. At least a week and then physical therapy at some point." Jessica agreed.
"Thank you so much for being here for me Jessica.....I love you."
"Where else would I be silly?" Jessica joked.
"At home with Luna."
"Oh, you silly man! Here's Luna!" Jessica said as she carefully pulled Luna from her purse.
Trent smiles and takes Luna. "Of course you smuggled her in."
Jessica laughed. "I had to! Otherwise she'd find her way her way her way here on her own. I don't want her getting hurt."
Trent laughs and cuddles with Luna. "Jessica, are things going well at home?"
"Ya, of course. I'm a little behind on my work, but I can catch up tomorrow, no bid deal. Why do you ask?"

Jason walk in with coffees and sets a vase of flowers on the bedside table for Trent.

"Don't get any crazy ideas, Trent. They had nothing masculine in the gift shop and you can't have coffee." Jason laughs.
"Just checking up on you, you know I worry about you."

He looks at the flowers. "How did you know I liked roses?" He asks Jason.
Jason chuckles, "Lucky guess".
"Well thank you." Trent replies with a smile.
The three break out in laughter just as the Doctor walks in.

"Ah, I see our patient is getting better already," the doctor says.

Trent tells the doctor he is feeling much better.

"Great. Day after tomorrow you can go home as long as you have someone that can stay with you."

"Really?" Jessica says hopefully. "Yes, he has someone to stay with him; me."

Trent blushes darkly at Jessica's statement. "Y-yea...."
As the doctor was writing in the chart he said, "ok, great. We'll see how you are tomorrow and plan on releasing you the next day if everything is alright."

"Great!" Jessica exclaimed.
Trent smiles brightly. "Thanks Doc."
"Well, that's exciting! I can't wait to get you home!" Jessica said with a kiss.
Trent kisses back softly, but with more energy that usual
"The doctor was right, you are feeling better, I see." Jessica laughed.
"I feel much better my love."
"That's good news buddy. And when you're feeling better you can work with me." Jason interjected.
Trent looks at him, confused. "What was that...?"
