Watching my son struggle to speak.
Lack of Speech

I see your frustration mount
As you try to speak out.

The words won’t sound
And you decide to pout.

You get angry at yourself
And take a book off the shelf.

You look at the pages
And it sends you into rages.

You want to tell me something
But the words just won’t come.

You don’t know what to do
How to help you, I don’t have a clue.

I cry myself to sleep at night
And in your every word I delight.

You become violent
All you want to do is vent.

If only you could tell me
Mommy, I want you to read to me.
