A Father’s Agony

He wrings his hands together,
hearing a diagnosis may be near,
not close enough for him as he
watches helplessly while she suffers.

Is there any respite for his little girl
as she fights an unknown illness?

Symptoms have overtaken her body;
lost weight, pale skin, incessant thirst.
Her appetite eludes her, and
her sleep is troubled, at best.

He watches her weakened frame,
asking for a miracle from above.

“Lord, is there anyone who can
wipe away the pain and tears of
my little girl’s fight to live?”
