Cowboy poem
SAM BEAM.

In the corner of Quarter not far from here
there's an old Red Barn that fairly shows the years.
Sam Beam told me some time back.....
he's gonna to tear it down.

Waiting for the wrecking crew to arrive
One last time he thought he'd step inside.
Morning light spread across the floor
to a heart on the door.....

It read, Daniel Beam nineteen fourteen
someday, she's gonna be my Queen.
Sure as War is Hell..... I love Bell.

Sam opened the door to step back out
there before him lay a scene
said there ain't no doubt.
There stood old grandpa Daniel
young and back from the War.

An older guy stood there with Dan
said give me one good reason you should take her hand.
Swear you'll treat her well.... an love Bell.

The scene changed back to the present day
Sam turned the wrecking crew away.
A big rough hand seemed to brush his face
He heard the strangest sound.

Like old timbers sighing or it could have been the breeze
Might have been the trembling Aspen trees.
Or the words of old Daniel....I love Bell.

Been twenty-five years since old Bell passed on
Sam's Maw an Pa an old Daniel are gone.
But he swears he felt the touch of Daniels' hand.

Now in the corner of a Quarter not far from here
There's an old Red Barn that fairly shows the years.
Sam told his Son this morning....don't ever tear it down.

Said.. like old timbers sighing or it could have been the breeze
Might have been the trembling Aspen trees.
Or the words of old Daniel.....I love Bell.
