The Mystery of Green Street

          Green Street is a dead end street with six houses, and
it is connected to Main Street. Green Street is about 300 feet
long. All six houses are more than 120 feet away from Main
Street. There are three houses on the right side, and there
are three houses on the left side. There is a wooded area all
around Green Street.
          On the right side of Green Street, there is a white house,
which is the closest house to Main Street. The white house is
about halfway between Main Street and the end of Green Street.
The white house is the biggest house. There is a green house
next to the white house. There is a pink house next to the
green house, and the pink house is at the end of the street.
          On the left side of Green Street, there is a red house,
and it is directly across the street from the white house.
There is a blue house next to the red house, and it is
directly across the street from the green house. There is
a yellow house next to the blue house, and it is directly
across the street from the pink house. The yellow house
is at the end of the street.
          Three of the six houses on Green Street have a secret
room or a secret passage. The green house and the pink house
have a secret room. The blue house has a secret passage.
The white house, the red house, and the yellow house do not
have a secret room or a secret passage.
          The white house has three floors and an outdoor porch
in the back. The white house has three bedrooms and two
bathrooms. There are two bedrooms on the middle floor, and
there is one bedroom on the lower floor.
          The white house has a small bedroom on the middle
floor in the front of the house. There is a very large piece of
cardboard leaning against the wall in the small bedroom.
The cardboard is about seven feet high. There is a wooden
chair in front of the cardboard, and the chair is holding up
the cardboard. The cardboard is covering a large opening
in the wall. There is a narrow staircase inside of the large
opening in the wall. The narrow staircase leads to the
attic.
          The white house has an attic on the upper floor. The
attic does not have a carpet covering the floor, and there
are no rugs on the floor. There are three small tables
and ten chairs in the attic. There are also a few other
household items in the attic.
          The other five houses have two floors and an outdoor
porch in the back on the left side. All five houses have
three bedrooms and two bathrooms. All five houses
have two bedrooms on the upper floor, and one bedroom
on the lower floor.
          The green house has a secret room in the living
room behind the fireplace. The fireplace is about six feet
high. There is nothing in the fireplace. There is a metal
screen in front of the fireplace. There is a hidden door
in the fireplace.
          The pink house has a secret room in the upstairs
bedroom in the back corner of the house on the right
side. The secret room is behind the wall inside of the
closet. There are many shirts and pants in the closet.
There is a tall vacuum cleaner in the right back corner
of the closet. There is a nail sticking out of the wall on
the left side of the closet. The nail is about four feet and
nine inches above the floor. There is a black handbag
on the nail. There is a toolbox in the left back corner of
the closet.
          The red house has a big laundry chute in the kitchen.
The laundry chute goes down into the cellar. The other
five houses do not have a laundry chute.
          The blue house has a one way secret passage in the
den. The den is at the end of the hall on the right side
of the blue house. The driveway is next to the right
side of the blue house. There is a blue carpet covering
the floor in the den. There is a small sofa next to
the side wall. The sofa has four wheels at the bottom.
There is a hidden spiral staircase under the sofa. The
spiral staircase has wooden steps and wooden railings.
The sofa has a seven foot rope attached underneath it,
and the rope is hanging down the stairwell. Anyone can
move the sofa away from the wall, and walk down the
spiral staircase. Anyone who walks halfway down the
spiral staircase can pull on the rope, and move the
sofa back over the spiral staircase, and close the
secret passage. The spiral staircase goes down to
the family room.
          The family room has a very large white post
connected to the back corner of the room. The post
appears to be a part of the wall. The spiral staircase
is hidden inside of the post. There is a hidden door
on the post. The hidden door can only be opened by
someone who is at the bottom of the spiral staircase
inside of the post. The hidden door cannot be opened
by anyone who is outside of the post. There is a
large sofa next to the back wall in the family room,
and the sofa is about three inches away from the post.
          The yellow house has a porch staircase with rotting
wood. The bottom step and the two posts at the bottom
of the stairs have been infested by termites. The other
five houses do not have any damage that was caused by
the termites.
          There is a young woman who lives alone in one of
the six houses on Green Street. Her name is Rachel. She
is an average size woman.
          Rachel's house has a blue carpet on two floors. There
is a blue carpet covering the floor in the hall. There is a blue
carpet covering the floor in the small bedroom except in the
closet. There is a den at the end of the hall on the right side
of the house. There is a blue carpet covering the floor in the
den except in the closet. Rachel's bedroom is in the back right
corner of the house. There is a blue carpet covering part of the
floor in Rachel's bedroom. There is no carpet covering the floor
in her bedroom closet.
          Rachel has expensive jewelry in her bedroom. Sometimes
she would lock her bedroom door when she goes out for a long
time. The door can be unlocked with a key that she keeps in
a small drawer in the dining room.
          It is a Saturday on the first day of July. All of the
people who live in the other five houses are on vacation.
There is nobody inside of any one of the other five houses,
and there are no cars in the driveways of the other five
houses.
          Rachel has a small cut under her right knee. She got
the cut three days ago when she was inside of her house.
          Rachel has a girlfriend who lives alone in a gray
house about five miles away.
          Rachel walks out of her house on Saturday at 7:30 in
the evening, and then she drives her blue car to her friend's
house about five miles away. She arrives at her friend's
house at 7:45. She stays there for about two hours, and
then she leaves her friend's house at 9:45. She drives for
about 15 minutes, and then she makes a right turn from
Main Street onto Green Street at 10:00. Right after she
makes a right turn onto Green Street, she looks to her right,
and she sees three young men standing between two trees
about 20 feet away from the sidewalk. Rachel has never
seen any of them before, and none of the three men have
ever seen her before.
          The names of the three men are Mike, Joe, and John.
Mike is holding an ax, and Joe is holding an ax. Mike and Joe
are having an argument with John. Then Rachel sees Mike
hack John with the ax three times. She slows down her car
to witness the crime, and then she speeds up, and drives to
her house, and then she parks her car in the driveway. Then
she gets out of her car, and she takes her pocketbook, and
then she starts walking to the front door. Right before she
gets to the front steps, she sees Mike and Joe running on
the sidewalk. Each of them is holding an ax. Mike is holding
a bloody ax. Then she realizes that they are running after
her. She does not have time to run back to her car. She
has just enough time to run to the front door, and then
unlock the door, and then run into her house, and then
close the door, and then lock the door.
          Rachel runs to the front door, and then she unlocks the
door, and then she opens the door. Then she runs into her
house, and closes the door, and then she locks the door.
Then she turns on the light above the stairs. Then she runs
up the stairs, and then she realizes that she forgot to take
the key out of the front door.
          If Rachel lives in the white house, or the green house,
or the red house, or the blue house, then she locked her
bedroom door. If Rachel lives in the pink house or the
yellow house, then she left her bedroom door open.
          Mike and Joe run to the front door, and then she hears Mike
telling Joe to go around the back of the house. Rachel does not
want to run out the back door, and step onto the porch, and then
run down the porch stairs because Joe would be waiting for her
with an ax. She does not have time to run back down the front
stairs, and run out of the house through the cellar. She shuts off
the light above the stairs from the switch on the other side of the
kitchen wall, and then she runs to another place in the house.
          Mike opens the front door, and then he runs into the
house with the bloody ax, and then he turns on the light above
the stairs, and then he closes the door, and then he locks the
door. Then he runs up the stairs, and then he makes a right
turn, and then he looks down the hall. He does not see Rachel.
Then he runs to the back door, and then he unlocks it to allow
Joe to enter through the back door.
          There are two spotlights on the outside of the house. There
is a spotlight on the side of the house overlooking the driveway.
There is another spotlight on the back of the house. Joe runs
from the front of the house to the back of the house, and both of
the spotlights go on. He runs up the porch stairs, and then he
enters the house through the back door.
          Mike runs back to the entrance to the hall. Then he opens
the hall closet to see if Rachel is hiding in there, but he does
not see her. Joe looks around in the kitchen, the dining room,
and the living room. He cannot find her in any of those three
rooms.
          There are four rooms connected to the hall. On the right
side, there is a small bedroom, and the door is open. On the left
side, there is a bathroom, and the door is open. The bathroom is
closer to the entrance to the hall. At the end of the hall, there
is a den, and the door is open. On the left side of the hall,
at the end, is Rachel's bedroom. It's next to the bathroom.
Rachel's bedroom door is closed and locked.
          Mike goes into the small bedroom, and then he looks
around to see if Rachel is hiding in the room. Joe goes into the
bathroom, and then he looks around to see if she is hiding in
the bathroom. Then Joe goes into the den, and then he looks
around to see if she is hiding in the den. They cannot find her
in any of those three rooms.
          Mike starts to smash Rachel's bedroom door with the ax,
and then Joe runs out the back door, and then he runs down the
porch stairs. Then Joe looks to see if Rachel is trying to jump out
of the back window. He does not see her. Then Joe runs to the
driveway, and then he looks to see if Rachel is trying to jump out
of the side window. He does not see her. Then Joe runs back up
the porch stairs, and then he enters the house through the back
door. It takes Mike about one minute to smash open the bedroom
door, and then he reaches inside, and then he unlocks the door,
and then he opens the door. Then he walks into the bedroom,
and then he turns on the light. Mike does not see Rachel in the
bedroom. Joe stays in the hall.
          Rachel's bedroom is in the back corner of the house on
the right side. The bed is next to the back wall. There is a blue
carpet which extends from the door to the back wall on one side
of the bed. There is a closet next to the door on the bathroom
wall. There is a bureau next to the closet. The bureau has six
drawers. There are three drawers on the right side, and there
are three drawers on the left side. There are three items on the
bureau. There is a small lamp on the left side of the bureau.
There is a gold jewelry box in the middle of the bureau. There
is a small mirror on the right side of the bureau. There is a
nightstand on the side of the bed that is closer to the door.
The nightstand has two drawers. There is a small lamp and
a clock radio on the nightstand. There is a basket next to
the nightstand. There is no carpet or rug under the bed.
There is no carpet on the other side of the bed. There is
a small table on the other side of the bed. The small table
is slightly higher than the nightstand. There is nothing
on the table. There is a small white rug under the table.
There are two windows, and both of the windows are
closed and locked. One of the windows is on the side
wall over the driveway. The other window is on the back
wall, and it's very close to the bureau and the nightstand.
          Mike looks around to see if Rachel is hiding in the
bedroom. He looks in the closet, but he does not see her.
Then he looks under the bed, but he does not see her.
          Joe goes downstairs to see if Rachel is hiding in one
of the rooms on the lower floor. Then Mike goes downstairs.
They look around in every room, but they can't find her. Then
they go out of the house through the cellar door, and then they
look in the back yard, but they still can't find her.
          Mike has the key to Rachel's car because it's on the
key chain that she left in the front door. They go to her car,
and Mike gets in the driver's side, and Joe gets in the other
side. Then Mike drives her car far away.
          Rachel calls the police on her cell phone right after they
drive away with her car. When she makes the call, she is either
inside of her house, on the roof of her house, or in the woods.
          There are police cars and an ambulance that come to
Green Street about five minutes later. A police car and an
ambulance stop on the right side of Green Street, and then
they examine the murder scene. John was found dead with
three large wounds from an ax.
          A police car goes to Rachel's house, and then a
policeman gets out of the car. Then Rachel either walks
out the front door, or she walks from the back of her house
to the front of her house, and then she greets him. Then
she explains how she got away from the two men with
axes.
          Rachel got two small cuts on her arms. She got one
cut on the upper part of her right arm, and she got one cut
on the upper part of her left arm. She got the cuts after she
went into her house when she was running away from Mike
and Joe. There was nothing she could have done to avoid
getting the cuts on her arms.
          There were policemen who searched Rachel's house.
There was no blood on any windows in the house, and there
was no blood in her bedroom within three feet of a window.
There was no blood in her bedroom closet. There was no
blood in the hall closet. There was no blood in the small
bedroom closet. There was no blood in the den closet.
          The police also searched the land around Rachel's
house and the outside of her house. There was no blood
on the driveway, and there was no blood within 20 feet of
the driveway. There was no blood on either side of the
house. There was no blood on the porch. There was no
blood on the outside of her house, and there was no blood
on the roof.
          The white house has blood in the attic. There are five
blood spots on the floor in the attic. There is also one blood
spot on the bottom step of the attic stairs.
          The green house has blood in the secret room. There
are four blood spots on the floor behind the fireplace. There
is no blood in the fireplace. There is no blood on the metal
fireplace screen. There is no blood on the blue carpet in the
living room.
          The pink house has blood in the secret room. There are
four blood spots on the floor in the secret room.
          The red house has a broken kitchen window. The window
could have broke a few nights before the murder, or it could
have broke on the night of the murder.
          The red house does not have any blood in the kitchen.
There is no blood in the laundry chute. There is no blood in
the cellar. There are two blood spots under the porch.
          The blue house has blood on the spiral staircase. There
are two blood spots on the bottom step. There is no blood
anywhere else on the spiral staircase. There is no blood in
the den.
          The yellow house has blood under the porch. There are
two blood spots under the porch.
          Two of the six houses on Green Street need repairs.
The red house and the yellow house need repairs. The white
house, the green house, the pink house, and the blue house
do not need any repairs.
          The red house needs to have the kitchen window repaired.
There is nothing else in the red house that needs to be repaired
or replaced. The porch does not need any repairs.
          The yellow house needs to have repairs on all of the wood
that was damaged by the termites. The yellow house does not
have any damage that was caused by anything else.
          Five days later, Rachel's car was found in a parking lot
about 20 miles away from her house. Mike and Joe were never
found.
